Parking Brake under dash lever

Hey Guys, I'm trying to replace the dash panel that is under the steering wheel. How do I remove the parking brake release lever?

Thanks,
Jimmy

Re: Parking Brake under dash lever

There is a little "keeper" spring that holds the cable for it into a notch on the end of the pedal arm. Compress that spring slightly and you will be able to pull the cable out. The release assembly will now be able to come out after you remove one or two screws holding it in (I would just go out and look at my truck to be sure on the screws, but I am at work right now).

Thank!

I'll try it.

Oh BTW, you will have to do this on your back because it is under the dash beside the sheet metal... Don't worry about loosing the keeper spring either because it is captured on the end of the cable.

Thanks Mike!

Once I got under there it was a piece of cake. I pull that lever forward and was able to release the cable and it slid right out. I changed the under dash piece and it looks good! Thanks again!

Once again SyTy.net pulls through!
