strong aftermarket brakes for the front (15" wheels)??

Anyone knows which brake setup I could use on the front?

I need a good set of brakes (4 caliper) that still fit under 15" drag wheels.
I will have a wilwood disc brake setup on the 12" rear I just get built,
but haven´t found something for the front, yet.

It also needs a strong adaptor (no aluminum).
Don´t want to brake anything when braking after a drag run.

I did search here about wilwood but didn´t come up with any real info.
MAybe there´s something better than that anyway?

the only thing you can really use with a 15 inch wheel is the newer s10 with the 2 piston calipers.

the next upgrade as far as i know is the f-body camaro front brakes but those are 12 inch, and require a 16 inch wheel to clear.

thats pretty much it as far as i know for brake upgrades for these things

Thanks for your info.

But there must be a brake kit like wilwood, or not?

What do the dragracers here on the forum use that have 15" weels up front?

if anybody does make them, they will be expensive. there was a guy making brackets on here for anything you wanted but i think he stopped coming to the board. his stuff was very reasonable

Why would they be expensive??

Can´t cost more than a bigger brake system?

There are guys here that run 15" wheels on the front, no?
Hm.....I need to do a lot of searching again......

Í cannot remember what Robert from Sweden runs on his SY.
I´ll find out....

edit:

Seems that Robert runs 16" wheels front and 15" wheels rear.

Ok, so I need a (wilwood) brake system that fits under a 16" wheel up front.

I can run 15" wheels on my AWD, but it is a custom hat and rotor setup. It uses four piston Wilwood calipers. The brackets are custom made also.

The custom hat was modified from a Honda hat. Holes were drilled to align with the Ty wheel spacing and some machining on the hat was done to get the correct back spacing for the custom brackets.

I don't think anyone else went through the pains to made a Wilwood setup work on the front.

Re: strong aftermarket brakes for the front (15" wheels)??

beats me what to tell yout to use. I had 15 inch wheels and using the stock brakes on the front. no problem shutting down from 150mph (never pulled chute the 1st time yet).

holding boost with line locks up to 20+ psi was never an issue.

Actually the only issue i ever encountered with brakes was when standing on the stock brakes using line lock we broke the output shaft on the thm 400 where it necked down to the oem transfer case diameter. This was at about 5500 rpm and 20psi standing still while tuning with a load on it.

So in my opinion.... just use the stock brakes and forget about it.

note replace oem lines with braided ss from russell.

your good to go.

I just thought to go a little bigger and 4 piston to have more stopping power.
I just fear to have not enough braking power to stop a still heavy 1500hp car.

I have a 4L80E and an upgraded heavy duty shaft.....hope it will hold.
I have a transbrake, so that will hold the power instead of the brakes.

SS lines are a must, that´s right.
