'96 Impala SS (1st race/1st kill)

I guess I should start by saying that a few of the techs at work (gm dealership) have been giving me a hard time about the ty. Saying they could smoke me, tys were fast when the came out but thats it, blah blah blah..... one is a 04 Silverado SS (he wont race), next is a 97 1500 with engine/tranny out of firebird (he wont race) and last the Impala SS (finally:lol:). We were getting ready to go to lunch together (Hooters, for the wings;)), when he asked if I wanted to race on the way there or take one ride. RACE duh :p. So we left the parking lot, got on the blvd, I hit it to do the whole initial psi thing then cruised to the the next red light. We both pulled over on the shoulder to let cars pass till the light turned red! Lined up, got my boost up, then GREEN! Beating him isnt the term i should use, he spun tires bad , so i smoked him! We got to Hooters and I figured there would be some excuse about the tires but instead he said I left him so bad even if he didnt spin the tires I would have beat him. On the way back we were pulling up to a stop light so i figured one more chance for him and I wouldnt do a launch, I got to the light first and stopped. While he was to rolling up to it, it went green. He definitly got the jump. He was ahead at go (my front end to his rear door), then I started passing. By the time we started to slow down for the next light there was a gap between us, me in front of course! He couldnt believe that it happened the second time! Made my day!

I have a 96 Impala SS as well as a 93 Typhoon. The Impala is a big ass heavy car with only 260 HP stock. Not making any excuses for it, just putting it out there. Both fun vehicles in their own right though.

Great feeling huh? The second race reminds me of an accidental race I had back in 2001.

I was sitting at a redlight in downtown Savannah in my truck with GAST member Chris Lee on the way to the dragstrip. We were doing some last minute tuning and were going to launch from the light anyhow. Well, about an 1/8th of a mile behind me is a new Silverado (at the time) who had timed the light just right and was gonna drive on through without slowing (doing 35 mph). Light goes green, I build boost slowly and launch at the exact time as he goes through the light. He pulls past me by about 3/4 car length and then I blow by him.

We get to the next light and he rolls the window down and yells, "What the f*ck is that thing!?!" Chris says, "Fun as hell to ride in, that's what." And we sped off. Fun night and also the first night I clicked off a 7.30 in the 1/8th (over a decade ago).

Sorry to threadjack, but it reminded me of the race. Good kill on the Impala, now go get the other guys.

I too have an impala SS but mine has quite a few mods. There are by no means fast cars unless you dump alot of money in them like i did. Either way its fun to race cobras and whatever else pulls up thinking they are just gonna waste you big heavy car. Then the light turns green and they are thinking to themselves "WTF just happened?"

Lol sorry i just got way off topic. Good kill. Your co-workers really are clueless aren't they?

You should start taking some major trash, everyday until they race.

Good kill

I'm willing to bet after his co-worker tells the other ones how he got waxed, they ain't gonna want to race him now...LOL

Good kill, though.

Nice kill....and usually the only way to shut someone (&the others up). What mods do you have?
