Re: Guy wants to race against my Ty
I raced two bikes (at different time) several years ago.
#1 - 2002 929RR - 2.8lb/hp - Mid 10 second bike with a good driver.
#2 - 1998 CB750 - 7.0lb/hp - Mid 12 second bike with a good driver.
My truck was running 12.4 or so at the time of the races and had a P2W ratio of about 8.5lb/hp. I got the 929RR out of the hole until about 50 or so and then he dusted me. He was very good driver, but my launch surprised him and he short shifted. The CB750 was one of the best races I've ever had. Driver was buddy of mine and a pretty good rider. I had him out of the hole by a lot and then he started to reel me in. We actually finished about dead even, with me ahead by about a fender.
The GS500 has a wet weight (full tank) of about 430lbs or so and makes 47hp (depending on year), so you're looking at roughly 9.1lbs/hp. They typically do about 0-60 in 6 seconds or so with a good driver, so you'll have him by a good bit at 60 even if he's good. Chances are he won't be a great driver and will rush the shifts or over-rev when you leave him off the line. Make sure the surface benefits you, get a good launch, and you've got him.
