I wouldn't line up against a bike. It isn't a fair race. I have a motorcycle and I don't even get in those debates with car guys because it is an apples to oranges debate. In my opinion at least.

If you sig is up to date, I don't think you stand much of a chance. You will be ahead for maybe 60ft.

edit: I take it all back. The GS500 is pretty slow. Like high 13's in the qtr slow. It should be a good race.

If it is a street race you will bloww his doors off but he doesn.t have any. quarter mile he,ll run u down even though it is not a superbike. i got a 84 900 ninja bad out of the light, he wasn,t expecting the huge launch go for it. win or lose its just plain fun

Re: Guy wants to race against my Ty

I raced two bikes (at different time) several years ago.

#1 - 2002 929RR - 2.8lb/hp - Mid 10 second bike with a good driver.
#2 - 1998 CB750 - 7.0lb/hp - Mid 12 second bike with a good driver.

My truck was running 12.4 or so at the time of the races and had a P2W ratio of about 8.5lb/hp. I got the 929RR out of the hole until about 50 or so and then he dusted me. He was very good driver, but my launch surprised him and he short shifted. The CB750 was one of the best races I've ever had. Driver was buddy of mine and a pretty good rider. I had him out of the hole by a lot and then he started to reel me in. We actually finished about dead even, with me ahead by about a fender.

The GS500 has a wet weight (full tank) of about 430lbs or so and makes 47hp (depending on year), so you're looking at roughly 9.1lbs/hp. They typically do about 0-60 in 6 seconds or so with a good driver, so you'll have him by a good bit at 60 even if he's good. Chances are he won't be a great driver and will rush the shifts or over-rev when you leave him off the line. Make sure the surface benefits you, get a good launch, and you've got him.

Got news. The GS500 has only 34hp because here in Germany you have to Drive with 34hp if you are under 25 or doesn't have your driverlicense for Bikes for two years.
He is under 25years old and has his driverlicense for nearly One Year...
He also tells me, that he Would Beat me with his Opel Tigra 1.4 90hp... :)

We have here in Berlin many Cars which are able to beat Bikes:

For Example:

Toyota Supra from a Guy i know:
He beats in a Long Distance Race (1 Mile) a Suzuki Hayabusa Turbo with 217mph to 209 mph.
This is a Street legal Car.
Find some Videos at Youtube: Berlin Supra.

Also know a Porsche (1200kg AWD over 800hp) which gets in under 3 sec. To 60mph an from 60-100mph in third gear in 2.7sec...Thats fast :)

34hp? That's nearly a 13lb/hp ratio. Basically, the performance of a 1992 Camaro Z28.

Yeah, I think you got him.
