I ran my truck in the high desert at Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, NV today.

I decided to travel to Fallon, since the ass clowns at Sacramento won't allow any "street legal" vehicles run at their test n' tune anymore. Sacramento raceway is only 250 feet above sea level and it would be much easier to run 11's there than in the thinner air at Fallon. My mph was down about 2 mph Fallon.

I'm considering going to Redding Raceway even though it's a 3 hour drive since it's my next closest low altitude track option.

Btw, I am having a conflict with boost readings from my autometer boost gauge vs. the map sensor signal to the ECM. For example, if my manual boost gauge shows say 22 psi and my ultimate is set to 22 psi, then the overboost safety feature gets triggered during the race. This always happens about the last 1/3rd of the track. I'm thinking the map sensor is maybe tired or it's calibrated on the low side, so if the manual boost gauge reads 22 psi, perhaps the map sensor is reading 24 psi? Don't really know. Maybe the boost gauge is an inaccurate piece of crap.

I ran 110 octane on my 22 PSI T-2 but had 8 degrees of KR. This was my 12.485 run, btw. I then added 3 gallons of 114 to raise the octane to suppress detonation so I could run more aggressive timing. It helped out somewhat.

My plan for 11's at a sea level track will be to run 118 octane on the 24 PSI T-3 program. The tricky part will be where to properly set the boost dial on the Boost Command and keep from overshooting 24 psi.

Oh yeah, does anyone have a formula to adjust the time of my run if I had ran at sea level?

But AFAIK it will give you incorrect results with forced induction. In most of the time people can't reproduce their corrected times at sea level in a turbo application...

Anyway, I got a response from Top Gun Raceway with the corrected ET.

Here's the reply.

"altitude correction factor at Top Gun is 1.404 giving you aprox. 12.081 at sea level"

There is a local NASTE member that ran 11.98 with a TE-44 on a stock motor. Runs consistent low 12s. We are close to sea level. I think you will do it. Good luck.

Here's another interesting response from Top Gun Raceway

"The NHRA gave us that correction factor as a average for all classes including all induction systems. My experience is that actual altitude verses corrected altitude ( air density ) is your biggest factor. We were at a air density of 6200 feet on sat. and I have seen it as high as 9500 feet and low as 2500 feet during the season. A sea level track such as Infinion will have a 0 or as high as 3500 feet depending on air density. giving them a corrected adjustment of 1.305 although they are a zero adjusted track the cars would just run slower that day. You might come to Top Gun when the air is better and pick up 0.200 or when it is worse and go 0.200 slower. This is why we have a average and say our track is 1.404 based off of actual altitude not air density correction altitude.
