TBSS race

TYTILIDIE

METH HEAD
Well, last night I went to visit Mr. Austin up in Denver. Austin is AUSyTyIN here and got a chance to race him in his new TBSS. First we went for a ride in it and I thought it was a sweet ride. Felt faster than the Ty too. But I guess it's different when you're the passenger.

First race we lined up for a dig. Had to do the gay 3 horn honk routine. Not sure what I left the line with but I was spinning a little bit but none the less a good launch. I got up to 100 and poor Austin was still about 6-8 cars back:lol: After that, he pulled up next to me and I told him when we hit the sign down the road we'll go from a roll and see what happens. So we did. I would say it was from about 35-40mph up to about 90ish. By the time I was doing 90 Austin was about a car to half a car out on me.

We should have tried a dig with no launch but you know how it is when you have two pregnant wives at home waiting for you to stop acting like 17 year old kids who just got their license:lol:

Gee Mike I don't know what you're trying to pull but there's no way I'm believing you unless there's a video and 10 sworn witnesses and his grandmother to confirm ID. ;)

Sounds like fun.

Vid or it didn't happen

:rotf:

I told you that it was slow out of the whole. That torque management system cuts the power in 1st gear, and it needs a converter to do anything in 1st.

:rotf: I wish! This was in y wife's Ty. Not to take anything away from Austin but if I were in my truck I may have not even asked to race.

And I wouldn't have raced you in your ty either. No point. Just like we never ran my evo vs 0965. Would've been fun to run your truck with the evo though.

Ya the tq management sucks a big one. First thing I did on my gto was turn that crap off. Get you a nice converter and tune/ remove the tq management and your truck will run alot better. If I was in CO I would turn it off for ya with my hp tuners pro.

Re: TBSS race

I dont know if this is a common problem or not when turning off the torque management on my friends 2001 Silverado w/a semi built 6.0 & 4:10 gears, he went through a few transmissions because he had turned off the tq management. He later allowed the torque management feature to work & never had a problem w/the 4l60E.

The truck originally had a 5.3 liter.

It depends on what all he did. Alot of places rush to increase line pressure when they remove tq management and increase to much and cause a trans failure. Also when we remove tq management and get a aftermarket converter we make sure to build the trans as well. If he was running a reg 4l60E on a heavy truck drag racing it ect then thats prob what cause the trans to fail along with heat ect. You really want a good cooler on the trans and swap to the 5 pinion plants in the trans. 4l60E's come with the weaker 4 pinoin plant. The 4l65E has 5. Have to check to see which one is in the TBSS.

I built the 700r4 in my sy pretty much the same way I built the
4l65E in my gto with billet sevo, beast sunshell, upgraded pump, clutches and steels, did some stuff with a shift kit that we modified and more but we will see how it holds up.

If you add power then you have to beef up the stock parts to hold the extra power or you break stuff lol.
