Re: lowering my sy

bump stops don't make noise, they are rubber, however crushing through the bump stops and hitting the frame will make noise.

daves ty bottomed out with a 1 or 2 inch block the whole way to nats and back. if you have crappy roads you will bottom out regardless, however if you go launching around all the time you will bottom out either way.

a big part of it is the shock absorbers too, if you are lowered you probably want stiffer ones to limit the travel, I know it made a huge difference on mine. The ride will suffer some, but IMO a stiff ride is better than clanking frame, which I somewhat regularly, until I get my notch installed this week

My truck is lowered with Beltech leafs and bilstien shocks. It rides stiff but It doesn't bottom out all the time. When I had 2 or 3" blocks it wacked the frame constantly on dips in the road, boost launching etc. I hate to say but I agree with Daveman, notching the frame is the best bet if you don't want to bottom it out on the stops. Your only other option is going coil-over and that's big bucks! I say throw the 2" blocks in, let it drive nuts for a few months then do it the right way. That's how I learned, and now I have 1", 2", and 3" blocks sitting on a shelf in my garage. There's a reason they're not in the truck anymore. The beltech leafs seem like a stiffer spring rate than the stockers so even at a 2" inch drop they wont bottom out like the blocks on stock leafs do.

whats a good combo of shocks and leafs to lower it 2 or 3 inches.? that sounds like the way to do it, and my shocks are a lil uneven in the back hhaha

Re: lowering my sy

John,

I have 3" Belltech lowering springs on my truck. As you might of seen, I want to actually raise it up in the rear alittle. I would like to put my rear sway bar back in. The reason I took it out was because it was too low and would bottom out too much.

I also have Bilstien HD shocks on my truck. I think a good portion of the trucks on here use those, so I recommend both of those items.

Hope this helps.
