Remember insurance company gets to practice how to f%$ over us several times a day, that is there job.

Don't feel bad for playing hard ball with them at all.

When my mom's house burnt they offered her like 120k to repair the house. In the end she hired a public insurance adjuster, and after his fees walked away with double that to build the house how she wanted.

Insurance guys are the same level as death row prisoners IMO. Treat them as such, DIRT!

oh man get ready for a ride!!!! Allstate is the same bunch of a$$holes i had to deal with!

Hopefully this "fair market value" has changed in the last 5 years since my accident. My truck had about 42000 on it at the time of the accident. Allstate was basing fair market value off the sale of 2 syclones on their records. 1 was in wisconsin and had over 100k on it, and the other was on the east coast somewhere and had 80k on it. They tried to tell me that they could only give me 8500 for my syclone, then after i bitched and said its only got 42k on it, they "agreed" to bump up the settlement offer to 9800. Then when i showed them my purchase receipt of the truck for 12000, and 5 pages of for sale ads in auto trader, and they said "well its not our fault you over paid for the truck, but as far as our records go, its only worth 9800". After i refused their offer, they refused to negotiate a reasonable settlement with my lawyer and insisted on repairing the truck. 9 months later, allstate ended up paying over 10000 to the repair shop, and over 2800 in rental car fees.

all i wanted was my 12000 back.

then again this is the same dumbass insurance company that came through my house after it burned down. while trying to put together an estimate the claims adjuster walks through the bathroom and rubs the soot off the towel rack and says "ahhh we can save that" and writes some notes on her clipboard.

Man I'm glad you are okay but sorry about your truck. When I first met you at the meet at Bob's, I remember you were so stoked to own it. I'd get another one, but that's me. I work for State Farm and we have even had a hard time getting the deductible back from them when their insured is in an at fault accident with one of ours. Just keep at em. You will get a lot more than 8 grand for it. Not all insurance companies are bad when it comes to claims, but Allstate definitely is on the low end. Don't let them low ball you.

Well i think i got very lucky with my insurance company some how they determined the current market value of my truck to be 15,676.56 i was worried that was a mistake but i kept my mouth shut and now that i got the check i wanted to let everyone know i didn`t get screwed.also i bought it back. it still runs like a champ but its deffinatly a parts only truck now. make me an offer its located in southern california. 1 hour from L.A.X.

Glad to here you got a chunk for itand bought it back.

I'd be interested in the driver's side cab cladding below the door. Also interested in the damaged wheels.

Sorry to see the results of your misfortune :(. I had a close call in my truck several years ago out cruising with my brother on a rainy night. Some guy in an F-150 wanted a piece of me. He saw what the truck would do from a roll and once we caught a light, I told my brother this guy is going to get a spanking he wouldn't soon forget. I launched the truck and hit a manhole cover halfway across the intersection and got REALLY sideways... It was one of those moments that you have a split second to make a choice and fortunately I made the right one. I stayed in it and turned into the skid and recovered it. My brother still talks about that night from five years ago. You can always replace the truck unlike your health. I have been looking a tonneau cover for my S10 forever. If you want to sell yours, let me know what you feel would be a fair price.
