TY # 1889
Okay so i am installing the new ZQ8 box i got from spooled up and i am having the WORST F*ck$n time removing the pitman arm. ANyway i will get it off but i totally forgot to order one and my question is can i just go to the dealer to pick one up? I will have it out tonight and wanted to put it back together tomorrow. Maybe if someone has the part number for the dealer that would be great help.

thanks

Re: ZQ8 pitman arm HELP!!!

NAPA might have one on the shelf too. Their P/N on it is 268-1652 for "Napa Chassis Parts", and 190-122 for "Master Ride Chassis" NCP is the best NAPA carries, Master Ride is the second grade ** cough, SHIT cough cough** economy part. Perhaps the dealer could x-reference the PN for you to get their number. Wouldn't be suprised in the least if the dealer doesn't have one though; not exactly a high-use part......

Re: ZQ8 pitman arm HELP!!!

Yeas just installed mine this week and had to change the pitman arm too. I went to AutoZone they lend you the pitman arm remover and sell good replacement parts. All the Duralast parts are Moog constructed sold under Duralast name. All the part #'s are the same. Of course you gotta get a 1 5/16 socket to get the nut off and retighten it.

Impact wrench took it off for me no problem. I may have put it in a vice as well. Hope you get that thing done soon. I just drove mine for the first time yesterday with it and it's reaaaaly nice.

thanks everyone for the quick responses and the help. I ended up getting one from a friend who owns a auto mechanic shop. I will pick it up tonight. As for the pitman arm still in the truck i think i am going to get some heat on it and continue to bang away i hope it comes out.

thanks again

Re: ZQ8 pitman arm HELP!!!

Its not so much about rust, its need a puller to remove it. I got mine under some good tension with the puller and then whack it a couple time with a sledge hammer.

Re: ZQ8 pitman arm HELP!!!

If you use the right tool, whick is avaiable for free from autozone(just leave a deposit) and them an impact wrench the arm will come right off, thats how i did mine, and then get the new arm on as far as you can and then run it down as far as you can with the impact and your done.

The ZQ8 box is one of the best mods i did to my Ty, very tight steering when cupled with the borgeson shaft from waller.

I got genuine moog parts from my local Orielly, they did have to order them, but they came in the next day, no biggie.

This is not true, duralast parts are not made by moog, and they certainly dont have the same part numbers

autozone pitman arm, duralast number FA1678
Moog part number for the same pitman arm K6339\

Also the duralast parts are just reboxed mcquay norris parts, which everytime ive used them they always wear out prematurly, yeah you get a lifetime warranty, but do you want to replace something like ball joints or pitman arms every six months?

I dont.

everytime ive spent more for the geuine moog part, never had to replace it again, and i went thru 2 sets of autozone lifetime ball joints in a year and a half, and id grease them every other oil change which is plenty, and finally said the hell with it and went and bought the moog parts and never had any more problems, and drove that car for another 4 years as my daily driver.

Not saying everybody has had that problem, just my personal experience.
