Johnson Pump with Aux Intercooler?

Has anyone used the Johnson pump with an Aux (ATR or similar) intercooler? Does it flow enough? I have an ATR aux intercooler still in the box, thinking of installing it, but I could not find the ATR pump (may have been lost when we moved). I just replaced my deceased stock IC pump with a Johnson. Will it push that liquid through the extra tubes?

I have the dual heater core aux CCHE. I thought the flow with my Jabsco was poor, so I added the Johnson (now running both) and flow is great.

Can you shed some light on your dual point setup? what lines do you have each pump on? where are the pumps located? thanks

Flow path is as follows:
1. upper IC
2. 3/4 inch heater hose to passenger fender in front of blower motor
3. aux pump under vacuum ball behind rad support

this shows a stock pump, but it started blowing the fuse, so a Johnson lives here now

4. Aux heater core CCHE's in front of radiator

5. OEM CCHE

6. Jabsco IC pump in stock location

7. 3/4 heater hose up thru driver side fender, under master cyl, behind plenum, to upper IC.

Don't mean to talk down or anything, but why go with small cores?
Personally I would make a cutout in the hood support and fit an big core as possible.

Hey Turbodog,

Thats a nice setup you got, thats the idea i had at first to redo my IC system, how well does it work, and what kind of IAT temps do you see driving down the road, or just sitting there idleing?

It's a core from the rear heater of a late '70's Suburban. Part number 94618 on this site:

Chosen for inlet/outlet nipple configuration as much as area.

At the time I think I posted some comparative IATs on syty.org mail list, but don't have them handy now. Been a while since I did this.

I was wondering how you mounted the heater cores. Did you just solder some brackets to the end tanks of the heater cores?

I am on Mt. Scott, overlooking Happy Valley (at the backside of the Veteran's Cemetery).

We need to get some SyTy owners together one of these days. I ran into two of them (neither with their trucks) at Woodburn Dragstrip on Saturday.

Also - are all 3 of those coolers for Aux IC?

I have a ATR Aux IC still in the box, but the mounting brackets got lost while moving. I would like to try the multiple-cooler approach to avoid cutting my hood supports.

oil/tranny/ic I just did a little side job over in happy valley....had the Ty.....about 136 and sunnyside...

Where did you get the big IC one? It looks like two of those would nicely fill up the opening without cutting out the center!

I'm just up the hill from 132nd & Callahan (1 blk no of Idleman). Not far at all from the place you were at. What kind of job were you doing there?

what kind of temp rises do you see under boost? my stock setups normally increases by ~30 degrees in 1/4 mile

I don't have data for you at the moment. But, just to clarify (in case someone else does have data), what temp are you referring to? IAT? IC coolant temp?
