SyTy concepts for the mentally challenged

Mr. Keith
I have to admit, I am a syty idiot. I know nothing about these trucks...I come to this site and I am always bombarded with info I just cant understand...I love my truck but I bought it prepped and I dont know if the combo is the right combo...I cant identify the turbo thats in it, I dont know the significance of having a 2500 stall or whether its right for my setup, I cant consider upgrades since everything other people do I dont understand.....In short, how do I get up to speed? Borders doesnt have a Typhoon for idiots book and I just dont get information here thats elementary enough for me to understand...Any help greatly appreciated...I do recognize the potential of these trucks but I only have the potential to destroy em. Hope this is in the right section...

Rapid City, SD....I have met a couple syclone owners out here but I was trying to get a baseline for my truck and asked few questions...My Ty has 72k on her with 50#s, hi flow pump, larger turbo w/ ext wg, phil long chip, custom exhaust, msd ign.....the only difference in the engine is 8:1 pistons the rest is stock....

E-mail them to me and I'll get 'em up. If you donate to the site (read $$$) You will be able to load pics directly from your computer into your posts.

I'm over here in Gillette. What issues are you having, if any? I believe you spoke to Todd & Rick in RC. They are also members here. I believe Rick has datamaster or a similiar program. I have a G-Tech pro if you want to try it out. They're OK.

Akwilks, I'm willing to help. I felt the same way when I got into it. It took me years to learn the things that some people seemed to be born with. I'm actually looking at writing a website with just the kind of basic information you're looking for. In the meantime, check out this site: www.more-power.info It's easy to read and a GREAT primer on basic hot rod engine performance. I read some stuff on that site that I've never seen mentioned elsewhere.

Email me at tookycat@nconnect.net if you still need a hand with some SyTy stuff.

Re: SyTy concepts for the mentally challenged

Thanks to all...I met Ric and Todd here....Ric is busy with his build so I havent talked to him lately...Gillete doesnt seem too far from here...I may need to take a trip.....I have the same issues, loose motor mount, bad idle/ stalling, missing up top, a stock alternator thats not doing its job, etc....When I bought my truck it was a monster...I never got beyond half throttle it scared me that bad....now she's passive....its a different engine since the last one broke the crank....I still like my truck but would love to see it perform at its former glory....Anyway, great info and I will read up some more...I also watched Todd run his Syclone at the track and got it on video....I watched only because I didnt want to find out that there may be other problems with my truck....

Give me a shout if you're over this way. I'd like to make it over for Street Legals in Sturgis but I dont think there's any this month or August.

I would maybe recomend one thing, read each "sticky" of each catogory for some spot on info, I think that may help a little bit, and I guess we will be seeing you in the "help my trucks broken" forum? lol just kidding. Good luck from S. Cal

Re: SyTy concepts for the mentally challenged

Hey Arn, sorry to hear that you are having problems with the truck. My truck should be running this weekend, hopefully. I have been gone all summer, just got back from Ireland then sailed back to Virginia. I should have time to help you out next week, shoot me an email or give me a call and I can meet you in Rapid and go over and see if we can find what is causing your trouble. I will help as much as I can but there is still a ton of stuff that I need to learn as well. Let me know when you get some time to get together.

Hey Jamie, send me an email, can't find your address.

Thanks for more-power website. It looks to have some good info. I feel like the above a lot. I love my Typhoon and want to make it run as best I can, but sometimes I drown in all the good info posted in the forums and worry about doing more damage than good. I have been lucky enough to find another Typhoon owner in northern Indiana who is very knowledgeable and I bug him as much as I can. My biggest problem is knowing what the right questions are to ask! It seems slow, but I hope to continue progressing.
