Tuner Pro changing numbers?

Ok... I'm getting through the programs and getting aquainted with how it all works.

When I was down at Jeff's I failed to mention that I had the timing set 4deg advanced. I correced that today.

Anyway.. I'm off my topic here.. When I put in a number and I'm on that exact screen it's what I entered.. For example if I enter 57 in that cell and the 4 others at idle it stays there when I update it. But when I save a BIN or come back to it after shutting off the truck it has other numbers in back of it... it never stays the exact "57" I entered!
What's up with that?
I'd rather see solid numbers instead of 59.10 or 45.32... It's confusing.

Any Ideas here?

I also can't get this stupid rear main seal to quit leaking oil. I pulled the trans/transfer case back and put a Teflon seal in even though the new Felpro I just put in when I built the engine looked fine. I think the Teflon one leaks worse! Maby I need to put that main seal repair ring in there to give it a new surface to ride on? This thing is kinkin my butt! Ahhh.
I guess it could be worse.

It likes about 27deg-29deg at idle with 14.0afr I know you looked at me like I was nuts when we were down running around at your house Jeff but that truck likes mid 11.'s AFR at WOT. Now that I've got the timing set back at 0deg there's no knock.

I'm getting ahold of the tuning just wonder why it's changin the numbers on me. :tup:

my tunerpro does the same thing.
i wouldnt worry about it too much.
if it goes from 57 to 56.88, i dont think its going to make a diff.
i dont know if theres a way but you might be able to remove the 2 decimal points???

It has to do with the conversion and values actually are hex digits 0-256.

It will round to the nearest hex digit when you reopen. Don't worry unless it is changing large amounts.

It has to do with the conversion and values actually are hex digits 0-256.

It will round to the nearest hex digit when you reopen. Don't worry unless it is changing large amounts.

Like Jeff said it is due to the Conversion of 0 - 256 in hex and the formula being used to display the value. If you click on the Base VE -vs- RPM & MAP (F29) so it is highligted and then hit the F2 key on your keyboard, you will see the detail used to create the table. Click on the conversion tab in the window and you will see the formula of 0.390625 * X + 0.000000. That is what GM used to display the VE value. Basically to get the fomula you take 100 VE being the max VE you can in this table and then divide it by the number of possible HEX values of 256. Which is 100/256 = .390625. That number times a hex number between 0 - 255 equals the percent. So when you enter in a number that isn't a round hex number times .390625, it will round it to the closet hex number and then do the conversion to display it.

example: 101*.390625 = 39.45% VE. if you put in 39.50 (which is 101.12 in hex) in one of the cells, it will convert it to 39.45 since 101 hex is the closest round number to 101.12.

I hope that makes sense. It took me a couple of months working on the XDFs for $58 (stock syty) and $59 before the light went on.

I think the easiest way is to read the P4.pdf file (I Promise I'm going to send it to you).....That is some dayum heavy reading, but will give you some good insight on how/why things do what they do.

Definatly leaps and bounds... It'll be nice to understand some of the more intense settings. Starting with fuel and timing are natural to me and get's me in the habit of changing things and moving around the program. When I have a understanding of some of the smaller settings that'll be awsome.
I'm totaly impressed with the program and how it works. After the 45min having a buddy drive last night it's well on it's way! Low/mid throttle and cruze is real close.. I'll start working on the mid to high this weekend. Especialy the timing side. I made a educated guess today and saved it so I'll toss that in and see how it acts and go from there... I love this stuff!
