He's just giving you a hard time. It's the last 4 of your VIN like he said. So it's 0803....

The problem is that the info you are looking for has been answer several times... It just seems that a lot of newbies don't want to research anything... Search can be your friend. I know that sometimes you can't find it thru the search even if you know your answer is out there.... but at least make the attempt. Have a good one.

Long answer...no.

Short answer - the last 4 of your VIN are acceptable.

what he means is that the actual sequence of trucks is not determinable from the VIN, but only from the build documents. The typhoons were not built in the order of the vins

Really?? Is that the problem? I would have guessed with 440,000+ posts and 45,000+ threads it has ALL been talked about at one point or another. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. "Re-posting" things on here is just the nature of a site like this. That's part of what I like about this site, the revolution type Q and A. I would venture to say that any question that I have or will have about SyTy's is somewhere in that "search" option at the top of the page. That does't mean that I come on here only to research all my questions. I come here to be a part of a community of people who share a common problem, owning a SyTy. Reading past posted info is helpful, yes, but it is also somewhat cold and sometimes I'm here just for the love. So newbies, post your silly ass questions, I'm here for you bro. :2cents:

I would bet money that with all the stuff he has done to the truck he already knew what # his Ty was. He was just asking the question to start a thread and try to become apart of the community. So I sorta agree with you. I guess we just have to remember when we all first started on the site, and the Q's we asked. So Newbs, yes post all questions, search, and be prepared to handle all attitudes and sarcasm, and don't get pissed off so easy:tup:

i am going to try to eloborate on GM Turbo's answer.

Opie is scanning all of the build documents in his spare time and even updating them on sportmachines.com

http://www.sportmachines.com/members/truck.php

It will take a very long time to imput all of the info but it will be done one day.

so for now like Dave said - last 4 digits of your vin will suffice.

Re: Ty production number

there are times I search and find an answer that is a few years old. sometimes I go with that and sometimes I post to get a fresh view on the subject. I know people say search but sometimes we just want to chat and start a topic. We are all family in one way or another. we all have a strange love for these little old trucks that I can not explain to my friends and co-workers how I feel about them. Everyone was new once. compared to some of you guys, I am new too.

FWIW the search feature works best when you seperate the words with a "+" mark

I.E. search for production+numbers and you will only get threads that have those two words in them.

Also, don't take things so personally. Maybe dude was just joking around,or you read it with the wrong inflection :dunno:

Anyway, glad to see you like the place, your truck looks mean.

Re: Ty production number

This site would be awfully slow if everyone searched first. Plus, sometimes people askrepeat questions and new info comes out of it. I personally dont think GMTURBO had attitude, was just answering the question. But then I have never really paid attention to his posts, or atleast the way he types. Attitude can be hard to read.

I thought it was AND. "production AND numbers" then click the box next to "search for all of these terms."

Re: Ty production number

Whoa...

I was just trying to give you the answer you were looking for without getting overly wordy.

For those who hate to use the search function here - use google - and in the search box enter your search criteria "Production number" site:syty.net The quotes will only search for the phrase 'production number' the site: will only search syty.net

It is impossibe for anyone to tell their build sequence without having the build sheet. Most people have never seen this info.

Here's some info from an old post.

"24. How do I know what number my truck is?

The VIN is a Vehicle Identity Number of 17 characters that uniquely identifies the type of vehicle, its manufacturer and origin. This US legal identifier also has a bar code representation to make instant electronic identification easier.
Located at the bottom of the drivers side of the windshield and affixed to the instrument panel the VIN can be used to determine if a Syclone or Typhoon is genuine.

Syclone

The VIN for all Syclones is 1GDCT14ZXM880xxxx where xxxx is the four digit series number ranging from 0001 to 2995. Saudi models have non-consecutive series numbers within the range indicating that the vehicles were either randomly chosen or built as and when requirements needed.

Typhoon

Unfortunately it isnt possible to directly correlate the PAS production number against the VIN. For '92 Typhoons the VIN should be 1GDCT18Z1N081xxxx and '93 Typhoons have the sequence 1GDCT18Z1P081xxxx.
However, Typhoon owners use the same method as the Syclones and go ahead and use the last four digits of their VIN to show their truck number.

*Brian Merk is currently working on a database which will contain full documentation on each Syclone and Typhoon built, including VIN identification. . No set date is determined when this research will be finished or available. "
