Cloning a Syclone chassis...

I'm not sure if this would go under the regular suspension area, or in the conversions, it kind of fits both.

I was wondering, does anyone have detailed pics of the front suspension of either a Typhoon or a Syclone?

I'm trying to determine the differences between them and a stock 4wd set up, to determine what changes I would need to make in order to create a rolling AWD set up on the existing S10 chassis I have.

I already have the bulk of the parts (complete S10 4x4 driver, Astro AWD transfer case, etc.), but I can't seem to find any good shots to help me figure out what is different.

I'm creating this chassis to slide under a 1954 Chevy Five window, but I want to set it up with a Syclone/Typhoon style driveline.

Re: Cloning a Syclone chassis...

everything is the same except for the "porkchop" that the torsion bars go into.

and I do believe the torsion bars are a different spring rate (could be wrong)

I was thinking it would be pretty close to the same, but I wasn't certain. I just didn't want to invest too much time and money into this idea to find out I couldn't do it... LMAO

I just decided to measure them lol, 91 blazer torsion bar roughly 3.5in circumfrence, 92 ty 3in circumfrence.

The torsion bar support is supposed to be different -as per the book "Jags that Run". An AWD Astro may be the same.

The front axles have a different listing number too, They are flanged on the front axle side, so your front axle output shafts will have to match.

Yeah, I am aware of those differences... My donor vehicle for the AWD components is a wrecked Bravada, so I should be good to go.

Turns out the bravada and Sy/Ty trans tail housing are not identical: The bravada will rotate the transfer case a few degrees up. Check the prop shaft angle.

Top: Bravada. Bottom: Typhoon (numbers are as appeared on housing)
