less boost and less power...if your having problems and knock, it could be a good way to make it safer to drive.

Re: boost solenoid

If you are going to program your truck down the road (ostritch/auto prom ect) there's excellent settings in there to controll boost.

If your not going to do that You can use a boost controller from www.rjcracing.com
It keeps the wastegate closed till the desired boost and then opens it and holds steady. There's little to go wrong with it and is very reliable. And inexpensive. Don't buy some E-bay cheap junker. They are not the same.

I use the RJC on all my GN powered vehicles and our Typhoon with great success.

Keep in mind that the stock chip will boost cut at 15psi~!

you can add a million dollary boost controller and it will do a terrible job if the WG is not properly sized. The stock WG is to small, not to mention 15 years old and probably sticky as hell on many trucks. Even if it isn't sticky, its still not properly sized. You want boost control, go with an external WG on the crossover

Re: boost solenoid

Depending on boost level, the stock wastegate can control boost, if there isn't a big restrictor in the way of the wastegate path.

On jeremy's truck we installed a bigger puck, bored out the hole. I wish we never did that now and just left it stock. It dumps too much boost if your not careful.

External on crossover does work well though and for some is an easier way to go.
