New Parts for Old Trucks
I am not the first to do this , but I did want to post my findings . I just finished installing the small 13.2 gallon 82-87 4cyl s-10 gas tank I picked up at a miami u-pull-it . It cost me $30 and I doubt they can be found without holes in them .The Epa and other regulating agencies require yards to remove fluids from cars , and the quickest way to drain a gas tank is with a screwdriver hole . Thats another reason for them to mark the price down . :tup:
After I spotwelded the hole closed , I bought a gas tank repair kit and sealed up the inside . Easy 3 step process , and after drying I hit it up with some high temp black enamel on the outside . Here it is ...
Yes the weight difference alone wasnt 50 lbs , but in race ready weight with a full tank of gas it is . The tanks are only 5 lbs different and they utilize the same holding straps .It was an Easy install . Its probably not a high demand item or worth it for most , but I know a few of you are weight watchers . $1 per lb. for me was enough to write about ,as usually its closer to $10 per lb .
