Front plate on Marlboro...

Why would anyone put a front plate on the Marlboro? 1st time I ever saw such a thing. Apparently, the delivering dealer installed some type of license plate and the last owner ended up installing a Syclone plate.

I think it looks pretty nice. Here in new york you need a front plate. An easy ticket. So in the future when i own a marlboro syclone i will have to upset a few people and do the same. HAHAHAH:lol:

We got the private tour over the weekend and I was stunned to see a front plate on one of the Marlboros.

$1 says the holes were already there, and they just decided to use them.

Re: Front plate on Marlboro...

That is my old Marlboro. Renz, you are the winner! When I bought it, the holes were drilled. So, I had three options, (1) do nothing and have the holes stick out like a sore thumb, (2) patch the holes and repaint (note: the truck has never seen touch up paint), or (3) cover them up with a syty plate which I thought fit the color scheme well although not ideal. Maybe I chose wrong but I am insane! :rotf:

Customrestore owns two red trucks and roughly 20 other Syclones and 20 other Typhoons. I went by their shop a few weeks ago. I was pleased to realize they are all enthusiasts and hope to someday have a Syty museum of sorts. I now have a much better understanding of their goals. The owner, John, is currently out of town but hopes to get back into the buying groove when he gets home. While it sucks for one guy to have a monopoly of sorts, he is a serious collector and backs his word. I miss my red truck. It truly is in immaculate shape and only has 335 miles on the ODO (all stock of course). But, unfortunately sacrifices need to be made for financial purposes. And, while it was not technically up for sale, the right offer came around. I am hoping to buy a stock Syclone with low miles in the future.

New Parts for Old Trucks
Re: Front plate on Marlboro...

I hope he keeps buying up all the cheaper trucks . Then our more minty trucks value will only go up over the years . For him to buy them all and restore them to new , do you think he will be asking the 15k-25k everyone else is . Hell no ,IMO hes betting on at least that much profit return down the road . Right now , our market just isnt there yet .I stress the yet part ...

Re: Front plate on Marlboro...

I am hoping you are right Michael! I would love to see our trucks worth a lot down the road. While most limited production rigs end up being worth a quite a bit, they are mostly cars. I could be wrong, but there are not too many limited production trucks worth huge money. Heck, there are not too many trucks period worth big money. The 1967-1972 4wd Chevy PU's or SWB's seem to draw decent money in top shape along with some old Ford street rod trucks. So, the future values will be interesting...especially with no real comps. The obvious answer of future worth is what "a person will pay for it." However, since the syty community sets the value for the most part, how much are we willing to pay? Will someone be willing to blow $100k on a Marlboro or $60+k on T-bone's old < 200 mile Sy? (I have a feeling I am about to be proven wrong :) )
