When I was looking to buy a truck in PA and ship it to OK I learned one thing. No matter where you look, someone has a horror story about every single auto shipper. Pretty much, my understanding is this, different companies use freelance haulers. Whoever is in the area gets the job, not many have dedicated trucks. The companies you deal with really just contract the moving out, and you pay for their services and you pay the driver separately in some cases. I'm sure someone has actually done this and has more experience, but the seller decided he wasnt going to work with me to sell the truck, so I never got to try it out. Good luck with whatever you choose.

It took me 3 different companies before I actually got my truck shipped. Most important thing, cheapest isn't always the best way.Most of these guys are contract drivers. They go online to sites and see who needs what hauled to what location. They lok at the price,if it's not enuff they usually won't take your truck unless it's really close to one that they already have on their trailer. Second, try to deal with a company that belogs to the better business buerau(spell check). Most want a deposit up from. Just in case things change, see how much of your deposit they offer to refund your money. Some give it all back, others keep a certain % of it.THere are transport sites with reveiws, check them out and see if you can find a guy who's home base is in your state. You know he travels there and wants a load to bring home. Good luck.

When I bought my sy I had it shipped from NV up here to the chicagoland. I called a local shipping company that contracted a driver and went from there. I still have the info if you want to call the driver directly since then he gets the full cut not having to give any to the contractor. Questions that need to be asked are payment options, insurance you can buy and if they are licenced and insured. Also, the main one is if that once the truck is loaded on the trailer it doesnt get moved off to driven at all until it is at your door. I know my truck showed up on a three car trailer by itself and didnt even have an extra 1/10th of a mile put on it

Just take a bus to NJ and drive your new Ty home. It'll make it - just don't beat on it until you get home. At least you will get very familiar with your truck that way. Go for it. Have some fun.

I would not recommend flying out or taking the bus out and driving it back unless you have all the insurance and title work in your name and unless you know for certain the truck can make the drive. plus with the price of fuel, might be cheaper time wise and money wise to have it shipped. I had a inoperable car shipped from IL to NJ 2 years ago, cost me $699 car came as promised on the bak of a 4 car hauler towed by a diesel dodge dually. i was given the truck drivers number and i dealt with a shipping company online that set it up. There is a good site that will give you some feedback about the most popular ones. I used a place out of FL. I was able to get my car home i think it was 2 days before christmas with about 2 weeks notice. I think Ebay uses a particualr one thats supposed to be reliable. you can even look into the cost of a enclosed carrier vs open, might be about the same

We thought about driving, but we cant justify taking the time off, along with the cost: plane tickets, fuel, food, etc. Not to mention the dash lights and speedometer don't work in the truck. We deemed shipping to be safer and more cost effective.

the company ebay uses that starts with a D and ends with a S and has a A in the middle (dont want to say the name) they transported a car from florida to illinois for a friend of mine. the did a excellent job..................................... destroying a perfectly nice 1959 chevy. over 10k in damadges, lawyers are still fighting about it almost a year later. their own paper work states the car was dropped off in perfect shape except for a stone chip in the windshield, they dont know how it got side swiped on the passanger side, left rear 1/4 panel damadge and a header torn off when it got to thier lot in illinois... and inside storage they say, yeah inside a chained lot under 2 foot of snow. just my opinion but id stronly suggest not using any movers suggested by ebay.

The problem with most of discount shippers, is they are just contracted out the job to the lowest bidders and many time they move your car on to a differnt carrier. This is where most of the problems happen. If you weant to eliminate that use a good carrier and pay the cople hundered extra $'s.

I've posted on here before the good experience I had with DAS (like someone said, there are horror stories with EVERY company). I shipped my truck from Seattle to PA with no problems except one...and this is relevant to your situation....the lot in NJ (where they will store your truck before shipping)...is a MUD pit. My truck made it 4,200 miles and was spottless until it landed in NJ and they put it in the lot. Finally delivered to PA covered in mud.
Otherwise I have no complaints...but I did go through a business account with DAS, and so perhaps a little more attention was given along the way. (except the last 100 miles). The company was recommended by several people. If you know someone in the moving business, have them set up the shipment for you through whatever company they use regularly.
