Re: block question

if you physically remove it you have to plug some oil holes. you can leave it in, just remove the drive gear so it doesnt spin. or you could just leave it alone

Re: block question

if your planning on doing 4 bolt mains i wouldn't do it, its a constant fight but i personally have looked at blocks side by side and there is less meat in the block. My local machine shop won't do 4 bolts on a BS block. Another thing to keep in mind is that the cams from a syty or non BS block won't work in a BS block. Also the BS block your stuck with the crappy stock timing covers. But its hard to tell how much weight to put behind the non BS blocks being stronger.

Re: block question

i've already got my original BS block hanging in the garage now.. I really wanna somehow make it into a dune buggy type vehicle.. something light enough that a 200hp V6 is fast lol.. Then again i'm and idiot.

Re: block question

I don't think so, but that part i don't remember.. i used a different timing set between my BS and my Ty motor (non BS) so i'd think its not going to interchange.

If i build another 4.3 and need a new block i'll be going dumpster diving in the SHIT junk yards (heavy truck etc) and find a T block from a 3/4 ton and up chevy. On the front left of the block almost dead flat with the deck of the block where the serial is stamped in.. if its a T block it will look like someone stamped it by hand.. solid letters deep punches.. if its not it will be a bunch of little dots making the letters (sytys aren't T blocks). But the problem is usually T blocks cranks are rough because of the nature of vehicle they were in.. i've bought one T block and cracked open two others and they've all been deep cuts in the crank and rusted walls that would be lucky if there were clean by .60 over..

I cryo'ed my crank.. IF i do another 4.3L every peice will be cryo'ed block and all and i will fill the block to the ports. \

Honestly the next engine will probably be a turbo 6.0L or at least a cheap 5.3L or .. or even a vortec 350.. maybe (my big stuff harness would plug right in.. LS1 i need a new harness. )
