So... we get one night a month for a guys night out. We go over to the local Hooters and watch the UFC for free on their pay-per view on all the TV's... kinda cool.

Anyhow.. it's 1am.. fights just got over and we are heading out. I had to take the 98 Jimmy with the Typhoon parts on it. My buddy pulls up in his 2007 F-150 and was rev'n it up. He know's the Jimmy's turbo'd. But I'm guessing he thought he'd still be close.
I admit that I put it in 4wd before the light.. knowing he might want to play.

I watched the light in the other direction turn yellow-red.. and I Foot braked it up to 8psi.... the truck just hooked and went. There had to be 15-18cars by the time I went into 3d gear.... He'll be over on Wed.. and i'll poke a little fun at him

I guess Heather was on her way home tonight and a bozo in a newer BMW thought he do one of those blow by you in the right lane before it end thing... boy was he suprised when she took off from the light and put 10cars on him He thought he was prity slick in BMW. Lol...
Even the winter beater is fun with Recycled Typhoon parts. :tup:

I think I'll bring it to the Homecoming just to see what it does. Soccer mom sticker and all.

if so, ....how woud you compare it power wise to a stock ty. (correctly running of course)

$10 says its quicker.. Probably more reliable too even with all the miles that are on it.

Garnet: Does her Envoy have a streight 6? Those make SICK power turbo'd. HP Tuners will work on that ECU also No problem... Just make sure you have it in 4wd before boost launching or you'll have bald back tires in a week.
There's a guy that had/s a 64 chevy wagon with the newer Envoy Stright 6 that made over 1000RWHP untuned. I know they don't make much aftermarket parts so I'd guess most of it was stock... maby piston/rod change but that had to be it! Wow. He had a little mention in last years either pump gas drags or drag week.

In all honesty... even with the truck having 146,000mi on it now (6000)boosted. I think it's quicker than her Typhoon was stock. I'm prity sure a 4dr is heavier also. The 4L60E makes it nice since I can program the shift points lower and keep it in the torque range better (IE,not shifting at such high rpm) The stock turbo just won't flow well at 5500rpm. If I had a upgraded turbo I could move that up but shifting at 4700 1-2shift and 5000 2-3 I'm betting the stock cam isn't designed for much more than that with boost waiting at the valve and stock valve springs.

That 4.2L powered wagon was a wheelstanding machine....very nasty vehicle. I actually thought it had a Supra engine in it from the sound of it a couple years ago but then I read up on it, very cool vehicle.

Nice kill man, about time there's a worthy second gen Blazer around!!

also what did you do for an turbo oil drain-back,......have a pic or 2 of it installed in the pan?????

I ended up using a -8AN fitting kind of towards the front of the pan on the pass. side. I can get some pictures of it for you. I dropped the front diff. and pulled the pan. Not exactly a quick way to do it but I thought it'd be the right way.
Some of the guy's with the 3.8L Gen2 V6's are using the oil level sensor hole and having no problems. I thought since it was at oil level that it would not drain back good enough. They report no problems... I guess there is always a flow of oil being sucked by the pump which would scavenge that out of the oil drain back..... That'd be a easy way. Someone makes a fitting for that hole too.
Another thing to consider if your using a newer block is to drill and tap the block for the old style pan.
I've done that before.... Not a big deal. Takes about 20min and you can use your stock Oil pan then.
I definatly wouldn't hesitate to put in a newer 4.3L. That's for sure.
I'm temped to put a I6 (4.2L) In the Naked Typhoon.. they are cheap on e-bay. It's crossed my mind many many times. Still is.

Please keep us up to date on that 98 S10, even if it has problems. I'm sure there are more members who are thinking about that 'upgrade'.

You've got a turbo 3rd gen camaro AND a bunch of Ty's...

Most people just think I'm a weird'o and nuts for messing with somthing that's a daily driver and wasn't "broke" to begin with.
I've got a few people coming around now for MPG tuning and Ideas... It's not much different than extracting more power out of a engine it's just kinda backwards thinking to me. Not that any of our Turbo stuff doesn't get decent MPG it's just not the focus of building it. You can definatly have both speed and economy with a Turbo setup. I honestly think it helps with the added force/swirl that blowing in air/fuel instead of just sucking it in.
Most stock exhaust manifolds flow terrible anyway adding a turbo setup actually would help back-pressure even with the slight restriction the turbo adds (depending on A/R)
I'll stick to being weird... I'm just wacked that way.

I remember that car. Badass turbo I-6 that sounded like a motorcylce engine it reved so high. He would have won the power adder small block class (car HOOKED and ran 8.50s at 156ish) if he wasn't a cheater and douche.

He got kicked from Drag Week for cheating. HotRod magazine, being a little douchey themselves, didn't mention it in the magazine coverage. They probably didn't want the negative attention it would have drawn to one of their events.

He was driving that wagon a few miles from each track and then taking a side road only to load the car on an enclosed trailer for the rest of the trip. The competition got suspicious when the car would show up at the hotel and track without any road debris. The footage of him cheating is hidden on the Dragweek DVD.

Huh... didn't know that tid bit of info... wonder why he ended up not being able to drive it. Sounds like the owner has some serious moral issues. Play by the rules or don't play. Enter it in somthing that doesn't require you to drive it then... Car rocks though.. hell yea. I bet it does sound weird...

From what I heard, they were worried that the tranny would overheat from the long haul between tracks. From how high of an RPM they launched at, I'm sure it had a HUGE stall.

If you care to, check out 1320 Video's Dragweek DVD. It's very well made and has all of the action. Cheater or not, that little wagon is still badass.

That thing is BAD ASS... I love wagons. My wife hates them.
I've still got a 67 Chevelle wagon... unsure of my plans just yet. But I usto drive it daily for about 2yrs.
That wag picture up there sure brings back memorys... well... not that mine was anywhere NEAR that cool... Lol...
Clean up that poor sportsmanship and keep the wagon!!! SWEEEEEET!
