Timing issues

What would cause the a 25* timing after TDC?

I set timing to 0* with tan wire off. The truck was running rough while i set it. I reset it to 0..still rough. I plugged the tan wire back in, turn the truck off then back on, and timing was pulled to 25*.

What can i do?

I currently have no codes.

Can it be a bad knock sensor? Please help

Hey man, I talked to Brandon (Aeroking) just after you left. 0 with tan wire off is correct. Everything after that is controlled by the ECM and his truck was about 24*... Looks like your truck is right where it should be :dunno:

Told you not to listen to me, I haven't been getting much sleep at all lately.

Re: Timing issues

When you say timing was pulled, are you saying it was spark retard? If you are just talking about advance, 25* is about right. If you are seeing 25* of KR and it is just sitting there at idle, you either have some strange ing problem or a bad sensor

i need to buy my datamaster cable before i determine it being KR. It was idling super smooth. I revved it, even built a little boost and it was smooth and steady. I do plan on changing my Knock Sensor in the next few days.

Re: Timing issues

OK this doesnt make any sense. Where are you getting the information that you 25* timing? How could you possibly know this w/o a scan tool?

You can figure it out from a timing light. As mention above that is somewhere around what the ECM is commanding for idle timing. The tan wire just disable that.

Correct, my timing gun displays both advance and RPM.

Basically just doing it the old fashion way. Pointing the timing gun at the balancer and reading it off.

Re: Timing issues

With the tan wire hooked up, I have mine set at 25*. I forgot about the timing lights that display what your at. My Snap on is like that but I dont use it often. But yeah your timing sounds normal to me.
