RPM Stage* turbo install...

For those that have install one of Mike Lee's RPM Stage1/2/3 turbos...are you able to used the stock studs on the exhaust manifold? If not what type of fastner did you use?

I used the stock studs (photos in my sig). The only thing you might run into is that the upper rear stud may have to be trimmed a little shorter with a cut off wheel (depends on how deep the factory stud was installed)... everything bolted up fine - you have to hold the turbo away from the flange to get all of the nuts started, then lower the turbo into place as you tighten the nuts.

My studds kept getting loose, so I ditched the studds and used stainless allen head screws with locking washers.

Yeah I'm thinking about that route also, just trying to see what others have done.

My studs were fine but i'd suggest this route because it seems like it'll make r&r much easier in the future

Ryan, thanks for the suggestion...again I think this is the way I'm going to go.

One thing though, did you have any problem with the two bolts/studs closest to the firewall?

When I get home today I'm goning to try the stainless bolts, but I'll post some pics of the concerns I'm habing with the bolts/studs near the firewall.

Wow, I don't know how you guys got that upper rear tightened when using an allen head...very little room in there.

Rob taking your suggestion, last night I had to shave down both of the stock studs that are closest to firewall. I am going to use stainless/allen head bolts for the other two.

For best results you should take out the passenger side inner fender well or the upper IC to thoroughly tighten all the bolt-studds.

Zav you are right...I did pulled the inner fender well to gain better access to the turbo and/or downpipe. I also pulled the entire stock A2W IC system...I have plans to go DiY FMIC.
