Interest in a SyTy.net Biz Card?

phoonTy

Truckless. For now.
I was thinking along the lines of something to leave behind when you spot a new truck you've never seen. They'll be one sided, so you can write on the back if you need to.

Something like this (image has been enlarged for visibility. will be biz card size):

If there's enough interest, I'll go ahead and get some made up then I'll work on what it'll cost to get some for yourself.

I want the art and I should be able to print them rather cheaply...
if there is any interest.

Nice, but a few problems with this:

1. I'll need about 3 of them, and that should last me a few years.
2. When I DO see a SyTy, they are usually moving and mostly in the opposite direction. I have yet to see a parked SyTy in the east.
3. If I saw somebody touching the windshield (wiper?) of my truck, my knee-jerk reaction would be a very defensive one. For the same reason, I'd be hesitant to get close to a truck to drop a card on it. I'd be more likely to wait for the owner to come back to it.

perhaps with a ghost image of a syty behind the lettering?
still looks good though.

I like the syty ghost image also but sounds like that may be getting a little too detailed to make it worth wild money wise but I am just guessing. I like the card idea in general though.

I like the card idea as well, however I think it would be easier for everyone who wanted some to go to the office supply store and buy some print your own business cards and then just print them yourself.

I can think of a few times where I would have liked to have something like this. Plus if you printed your own, you could add your SyTy.net user name to it.

Magnetise the back of them so you can throw them at oncoming cars and don't need to get so close :D

We could provide the PDF for any one to print if that is your preference.
But I can also offer to print them at cost through my employer and any small overhead fee go back to the site for support.

We are working on something to help out the community as a whole right now.

TJ can tweak the design until the cows come home So we could even print various runs with a fresh design every so often.
Color is color so when we laser print it doesn't really matter, its all in the quality of the image we start from.
Gradients and embedded images can cause issues if not designed correctly but I am confident in TJs ability to know what works well for print.

Its not likely to see THAT many trucks that you are going through many of them.

Perhaps for a one time small fee you get donator status to the site and a pack of 10-20 biz cards to hand out?

Throw out any ideas as we are pretty open to suggestions on this one.

Thanks for the interest guys and thanks to TJ for volunteering hiis time as usual! ;)

Re: Interest in a SyTy.net Biz Card?

Everyone needs to keep in mind... these are business cards we are talking about. Ghost images might sound like a good idea, and they may even look good on screen, but when you are reproducing something that small with transparency, things are going to get muddy. I was thinking something very simple and professional looking. That's one of the reasons I was going to have some printed correctly. It lends more credibility to yourself when you place a high quality card, as opposed to a home print job.

But like Jas said, keep the ideas coming. At some point, we'll sort things out and let you know what's been decided
