Charlotte AutoFair - Sept 6

Time is ticking down, our AutoFair show day is Saturday, Sept 6. This is the weekend AFTER Labor Day.The current line up is as follows. I have 1 open spot as of now, if anyone wants to show with us. For those already down for a spot, if you need to back out let me know ASAP so I can try to find a replacement for the spot. Due to lack of interest earlier on, I backed our spots down to 17 from 20 so we don't have a lot of "wide open spaces"

Our location will be on the outside of the track, to the right of Smith Tower, on the left side of the little side entrance street, not far from where we were a year ago in spring , but on the opposite side of the street. It is to the left of gate 6, near where gate 7 goes into the tunnel area. The BMW club will be accross from us, and some <gasp> Ford group is in front of us. I guess it could be worse, we coulda been booted out like the Fiero club! The rain last show killed our numbers, but the main reason we are outside is because we are a Saturday only club, and the AACA is having their cars inside the infiled, which pushes a lot of Sat/Sun clubs into the tunnel area.
Just hope no rain this time!!

I'm in (if I can get it started). Sat for 3 months with a dead battery. Now new battery and no spark. Changing ignition module tomorrow night. Could it be the autofair curse?

Absolutely! Pat already had to change out IC pump & radiator on mine, the front prop boot cracked on his, lol! Never fails, & we might even end up with Gustav joining in as well..

well i'll have to replace the front prop shaft on the Sy and i'm waiting to gwt the FAST ecu back for the GN. I hope to have all things running by then. if not i'll be there with a trailered sy and gn this yr.

Well the ignition module checked out bad. Installed a new one and still no fire. I'm scratching my head on this one.

It's time to pull the dist and install a new pick-up coil. also check all the fuses. the ecm fuses power part of the ignition system too.

Jim,
Did you get the Ty running ? Looks to be a tropical Saturday! And alas, the curse continues, my vss / abs is going wacko again. I may have to unhook the abs and drive with the flow of traffic, or just take an oar & paddle my way in!

Not running but have not had time to do much more trouble shooting. If you have someone else that wants my tickets let me know.

Turned out to be a sunny HOT day! We were in pretty steady rain until about 30 mi from Charlotte, and it was clear after that. Had a super turnout considering we had so many folks living south & east of I-95(storm zone). Out of 17 spots we had 12 filled!
Thank you to John, Jamie, Shawn, Rob, & Pat for bringing out trucks! Voting was hard!

Most Improved - Cheryl 93 Ty (maybe cause it hadn't ran in over 1.5yr??)
Thr trip was fairly uneventful even though I had to unplug the ABS & drive with wacko speedometer. Other than surging not knowing what gear it needed to be on highway with the speedo off, truck ran good until I made the turn into my drive and she decided she'd had enough and died! Had to crank it 3-4 x to get from mailbox to carport. What better place to break down than your own driveway, lol!

Finally got my Ty going again. It was the pick-up coil on the distributor. Installed a new distributor from Auto Zone as recommended by cloneman315 and fired right up. Idles better than before...actually perfect idle. Thanks for everyone's help.

And darn what a pain to change.

Glad you got it going jim!!I It is a pita for sure.Those stock dis is why most of the sytys idle like crap.

maybe that is whats seems to be wrong with my truck. it idles great cold but after it warms up it has a hesatation and rouch idle. any ideas?

The tin shield will start to wear out and the spark will jump around inside,not saying this is it, but It has fixed a few sytys that I have played with.And I have found the autozone one to work well,it just has a ring and pickup nothing else,ps wish I made the autofair but I thought it was going to rain,some year I hope to get a trophy.
