Re: Need help!!! Don't know which scan tool....the shop is Toms performance in vancouver, washington. and was referred by a local syty owner. Here it is in a nut shell.......Codes 42,45......driving down the road truck is running great then all of a sudden it starts sputtering and the tach...

I took my sy to a shop that is known to work on our trucks and they were not able to use there scan tool. It would not communicate with the ecm and would not except its vin #. My question is----- Would the ult chip (version 1) prevent the scan tool from operating properly? Thanks for any input...

New 02 sensor, cap, wires, plugs, ign module and im pulling code 42 & 45. It idles really rich slightly smokes and blows a oiled carbon muck out the tail pipe when I snap the throttle after it idles awhile. Runs real strong till after warm-up then out of no-where..... hard tach spikes...
