I personally would like to see the nats get out of the midwest next year. I fully support anyone that wants to make it happen in LV. If the turnout is lower I think that is ok

Wierd, look you guys, someone from Vegas thinks we should have the Nats in Vegas next year? Who would have thought? How convienent is that. According to my map, Vegas is far from being centrally located, but I can see how some of you may get confussed because the map will look different with your head up your ass.

there will definately be more west coast owners and trucks there

Ya think? I bet if we had it in Florida, all the Florida trucks would go. And I bet if we had it in Texas, all the Texas trucks would go. Thats not rocket science. But it's not about all the west coast trucks or all the Florida truck or all the Canadian trucks, it's about all the trucks, from everywhere. Centrally located is the only fair way, period.

I hear all this complaining about how the west coast guys always want it out there. But I never hear anything from the east coast guys. They just put their fuckin trucks on the trailer and go. Same with the Canadians. I'm glad to see at least someone gets it.

Looks like Steve's got it all figured out anyway. I'm glad to see he's doing it and someone else.

Heres what involved to make any nationals happen:

No specific order.

1. Time and Date - it has to be put to vote, since no one agrees on this
2. Once we get a time and date, a specific location WITH A TRACK.
3. With a specific location, comes finding a hotel at a decent rate that can handle the vehicles and people.
4. Making sure we can get the track to use for racing
5. making a schedule
6. getting a t shirt design made
7. getting t shirts made
8. figuring out registration costs
9. figure out what goes with registration
10. food situtation, fend for ourselves or organized?
11. finding out local restuarants and things to do for everyone
12. getting info to me to put on the website
13. advertising
14. getting vendors to participate

seems like a small list, but its a shitload of work that no one wants to do.

usually i keep quiet in this section, mainly because im a very lazy and selfish person, and dont even want to lift a finger to wash my own truck. Everyone has gone over this soooo many times. The nats will never be anywhere but in a central location, and thats that.

what i dont understand is why we cant just have a west coast nats? if its too far for the east coast people, fuck it who cares, east coast guys have mini meets all the time. why cant the west coast guys have one? hell ive had my truck 2 years and ive only met up with more than one owner twice! id even have a west coast nats in '03. nats in vegas could not be that hard to organize.

1. date and time... already done, same weekend as sema
2. location and track... vegas, done!
3. hotels... hmmm lemme think  one thing to consider is maybe if one person was crazy enough to book like 20 rooms in their name you might get hooked up on some nice comps and a cheaper room rate.
4. getting the track... considering there wont be 50+ trucks i dont think we'd need to try and rent the track, last time out at fontana, there were 30+ vipers there, and the track let them run in their own class, i dont see why we couldnt set up something similiar, especially with the GN guys being there as well
5. making a schedule... probably the most difficult part of setting up a nats, cause everyone in vegas would probably be gone gambling
6. getting t-shirts... perhaps we could hook up with the GN guys and make like a GN vs SyTy showdown shirt?
7. getting shirts made... not that hard i have a friend that makes tshirts for bands.
8. figuring registration costs... i dont really see a need for registration fees, unless we want to get trophies n shit, which would be pretty cool actually
9. figure what goes with registration... again... not much.... id say pay $40, and ya get a shirt and a trophy
10. food situation... again this is vegas, fend for yourself and get fat at the buffets
11. find stuff for everyone to do... easy! prostitution is legal in vegas! j/k plenty of shit to do in vegas.
12. getting info to put on the website... may take some time, but not hard.
13. advertising... advertise? i think 6 pages of people arguing people is enough haha... or make a banner, and have syty.net host it as well as the GN board, send it to syty/gn vendors.
14. getting vendors to participate... well theres really only one west coast vendor i know of... and Mike already said he was in...

sure all of this is easier said than done. theres maybe 5 hard tasks to do. i think the reason this hasnt been done before is lack of interest, and no one wants to drive 500+ miles to see 5 trucks. if this event were going to happen in 04, that would give us more than a year to get everything organized. really it just depends on how serious everyone is on making something happen. i think we could get somewhere around 30 trucks to attend, and judging from this years nats in KC, 30 trucks wouldnt be a bad turn out, especially for a regional event.

im more than willing to help get this rolling. if theres enough interest, i dont see why it cant happen... i know some of you so cal guys just read the boards and dont post, but if everyone posts itll help give an accurate idea on how many people are interested and want to attend.

ok im done with my speech.

no one is stopping a west coast nats... if west coast wants to do one..

BUT..

it going to be the west coast nats..... cause the Official SyTy ISTA nats are in KC for 2004, its already been decided and planning has begun.

I wanted to add.

After this year, and being my 5th one, I can see the value of having the NATIONAL NATS in the same place and same date every year. With the needed change of dates this year, it did prevent some from attending, and with the location moving around, makes it hard for people to decide yes or no.

I think we have settled on location, now lets find a good date we can keep for many years.

Also, West coast guys (myself being a former and hopefully future west coast guy), don't let it stop you from having another event, be it Las Vegas, or Alaska.

I also think merging with the S-Series is a BAD idea now. I did think it would be good, but now feel it will only hurt our elite group we have come to enjoy. I am not sure Sean wants to be in fights annually either.

i think combining the nats would be a great idea... those of us with syclones could get air bags in the back and metal skid pads on our cladding so when we get there we can "lay frame" and have sparks shoot off our cladding as we pull into the parking lot... that would be soo.... "tight" yeah! [/sarcasm off]

i definitely think thats not a good idea... again my opinion doesnt matter since i wont be going... and not that SyTys are so high and mighty... ok, yeah we are, but still i think mixing nats would only bring us down. regular s series guys tend to bring a whole different crowd. people that are more concerned with looks and shiney stuff, than speed and performance. not to mention would you really want to share a track with the sseries guys? im sure theres a few there that would give a syty a run for its money, but not many. just a few things to consider. the only upside i can see would be that syty's would get a lil more recognition, since there would be more people. and if there were some magazines there im those with white or red typhoons could get in the mag, cause we all know they wont take pics of the black trucks :fist:

I wouldn't say filled...

There are just a couple who are pretty strongly opinionated.

Same place , same time is good. Good for planning. Makes it easier for organizers.

In case people didnt know - organizing an event with at least 100 people is not an easy thing.

As far as the fights annually.... I can handle them - but can they handle the BG ?...

:D

I've actually been trying to figure out how to make it to HAN to see some of the west coast trucks (yes, I have seen some, but not many). Maybe someday...when I get more than 6 days of vacation.

Congrats - that could very well be the dumbest input I've seen in 7+ years of Nats discussion. The point of every Nats is to have the largest SyTy event ever with the most trucks ever. I understand that you want a Vegas event that'll include predominantly west coast trucks - that's wonderful! As someone who has (loosely) help put together 15-20 SyTy gatherings in the tri-state area, I applaud you. I'd even try to show up if you create a Vegas meet. But expecting east coasters to drive 4+ days each way because you want west coast trucks at the Nats is ludicrous. You want west coast trucks at the Nats? Organize a car hauler to KC. Or drive.

Sorry, but I felt it had to be said...see ya in KC'04!
