#4 Spark Plug Wire

My #4 wire pretty much touches the downpipe. The end of the boot is straight. Is the wire touching the DP gonna hurt anything, and did I put on the right boot?

What plug wires are you using? I have Taylor Spiro Pros and the only wire with a straight boot on the passenger side of the truck is on number six. And that wire is cable tied to PREVENT it from touching the downpipe. If your plug wire touches the downpipe even for a second at WOT, it will be ruined. Continuous contact even with the truck just at idle will have the same effect eventually.

AC Delco 7mm is what was on there. I have some MSD 8.5 wires coming in. Maybe I have the pass side mixed up. For the passenger side, I have a 90deg on #2, straight on #4, and 90deg on #6. On the driver side, straight on #1, and 2 angled ones on #3 and #5.

Reading on sytyarchives, only #1 and #6 need to be straight. I will move them around tomorrow. How is yalls #4 routed? Since it can't touch the DP, what about the exhaust manifold. Probally not.

On my truck, number two and four have 90 degree boots on them and the wires are pointed towards each other. HTH's

I used to burn #4's all the time , in my younger and stupider days.

I would just carry spare wires with me. Burn though - pull over , swap wire , go again....
