BBK Throttle body

Hey Guys,

Once again, Serach didn't work worth a shit 4 me. I typed in BBK Throttle Body, and I got about 2 dozen posts having nothing whatsoever to do with it.Anyway, I saw some posts in the last few months where some of the guys said they had located the correct enlarged BBK TB for our trucks. Does anyone remember what was said ?

The one Conley got 4 me a few years ago when Randy was there doesn't seem to have the correct linkage because it certainly looks different. Somehow my old stock TB mysteriously disappeared when Randy left, so I got nothing to compare to except the pics I took while I was taking the car apart. I already had to convert to an LT-1 TPS sensor, and fortunately Caspers had a conversion lead to do this. So, I guess other guys must be doing this. The TV cable seems to fit, and the throttle seems to attach, but the Cruise slotted link won't seem to slide over the post becuse it's too big. Maybe I'll have to drill out a bigger hole on part of the long (~1-2")slot.

The only # on my TB is E.O. D-245-9, which may just be an EPA waiver.

TIA.

I don't know anything about the BBK for our trucks, but...

I bought my Sy with an Arizona Speed & Marine 58mm TB on it. Some idiot got it for the LT1 instead of L98. So the throttle was hooked up when I got the truck but it wouldn't let the blades close to idle below 1700. I tried setting the idle screw and realized the throttle cable was holding open the blades. Anyhow stupid me thought, well I deal with it later and just adjust the TV cable. I went and put the pedal to the floor when SNAP, the linkage on the AS&M broke. It's made of plastic for the LT1 model. Anyhow, I sent it back to Arizona and for $50 plus shipping both ways, I got it back with the proper L98 linkage that's made of metal not plastic. Everything fits, including stock TPS, IAC, Cruise, TV and throttle.

The whole point, don't buy a truck that's seems too good to pass up

Lynn,

I've bought my 58mm BBK TB from Summit a few months ago. Part number was BBK-1551. It's $345 and was on back order but I got it in two weeks or so...

These trucks are cursed
will upgrading to a bigger TB make that much of a difference on a stock truck?

a friend of mine got a new 58mm TB for his supercharged/modded LT1 and it has a helluva lot more top end response. after noticing that much of a difference i was sold... but held off from getting one cause i wasnt sure it would make much of a difference with no motor mods.

anyone have some input?

Yes, definitely it won't help on a stocker and it is one of the last thing that U would do on an upgrade. But with all the $$ I spent - I would hate to total it up - hopefully it will.

I sent a pic of my linkage to Christian, so hopefully he can tell me if it looks like his.

I wasn't exspecting it to be listed as a SY/TY specific part!

Just...

Just...

Just do a search a key word search in summit for GMC syclone and it'll come up. It's one of like 2 items they carry for SY/TYs

Falco -

From pictures I've seen and help from John Waller, the linkage appears to have two parts - the inner part that is soldered to the throttle shaft and the outer part which bolts to that. Did your TB include the bolt-on part ?

Lynn,

The answer is yes. Here is a picture of the installed TB.
