hey guy's need some help.
How much power will the aluminum part #14011069 take? Will the stock parts fit in it (crank)? I just spent over an hour searching and did not find much information. Also how much is the block worth?
Thanks,
Bob

An aluminum block is an essential ingredient for a lightweight V6. This 356-T6 cast aluminum block is recommended for road racing and other applications where engine weight is a consideration. It is outfitted with centrifugally cast 4.00" diameter cylinder liners and billet steel four-bolt intermediate main bearing caps. These heavy-duty caps have angled outer bolts that add to the block's bottom end strength.
Technical Notes: Aluminum blocks are designed for crankshafts with 2.45" diameter main bearing journals. All production V6/90º engine components can be installed in aluminum Bow Tie blocks. Block weight is 70 lbs.

Can't remember what the HP rating on this is, I know it's mentioned in other posts if you search. Also it is a two piece rear so you will need an adapter for a one piece crankshaft.

Re: Bowtie block need help

Jklein68,
I did see the information that you attached but could not find the HP rating. Where would/could a person find an adapter? Is it a bowtie piece or will one off a production block work? Tried to find some pictures of the rear main area also with no luck.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Bowtie block need help

Sorry, I think I got this backwards. The adapter lets you put a 2 piece rms crank into a 1 piece rms block, not the other way around. You'll have to get a 2 piece rms crank.

Just search the forum for aluminum bowtie, aluminum block, aluminum hp, or something like that. I know there have been quite a few discussion/threads on these.

Re: Bowtie block need help

GM says the block is good for 450hp,but from experience it can handle 100 more.Stock crank wont work as it is a 2 piece seal block. These blocks (067-069) will have the webbing let go if they are built with too much power. In my 069 block I used a cyro treated 85 cast crank rather than take a chance on ruining a high cost billit. You also need retro fit lifters and a flat nose cam.Block, depending on condition,is worth 1k-1500.Max bore would be .040 over and you would want to have a short fill with hard block.

Re: Bowtie block need help

So in short the 069 block is about the same as a stock block with four billet caps?
