The local SCCA region ran at the Daytona Speedway today in the infield course. This was actually fun due to instead of a normal sea of cones, this was basically a mini road coarse setup.
I ran a Miata in my class and got my ass spanked by him. He put me down by 4 seconds. Race prepped super light car with a seasoned driver vs a heavy non handling turbo brick with a still novice driver...it was an obvious outcome. Even the announcer was noting how unfair I had it, but gave me props for having a badass truck :rotf: I didnt do horrible, but I know I could have (should have) grown my balls a bit bigger and pushed harder than I did. That was the first time being on a road coarse type track and it was sorta intimidating, especially when the chance to overpower and go sliding off the course and possibly into a tire barrier becomes a reality.
Truck felt much better with the rear sway bar installed, the momo wheel and the new steering shaft adapter/bearing swap. Overall really happy with the upgrades.
Next up is starting to focus on getting the LS1 brakes in, the ZQ8 box, and a 5 point harness. The energy im putting into bracing myself for corners is starting to become more obvious and taking away from my focus on driving a good line. Take notice in the in cab video of my keys and how they go horizontal during corners, and you'll see why Im doing a 5 point.
