Can everybody post closeups of there engine. I need to make sure I have all my sensors in the right place. I seem to have a couple extra connectors and I can't figure out where they go. TIA

What do the connectors look like?

Number of pins, colour, approximate location on harness etc?

Do you have any pics of the connectors themselves?

Tony

Here they are.
I figured the long one was for the boost control solenoid (the 1st three pics)

Is the short one air intake temp?

im thinking it goes to the water temp sender in the intake.
water temp is already plugged in with the funky connector blades like this -l
Morgan, do you have any closeups of your engine?

ok, what color are the wires on the mystery plug??? any idea?
the long one is orange and black. I'm almost positive it's for the boost control solenoid(which I don't have anymore). I can't remember what the other colors of the other connector are. If you look at Tom Dowd's truck in the magazine at the engine pic on page 123 you'll see the sensor in the intake tube by the throttle body. That's why I'm thinking it's the air temp sensor.

well, taking pictures at night is pointless, but I went out to the garage and got my book and from what I remember from putting the project Ty together, every plug has a place and can pretty much only go in once place.

The orange/black wired plug goes to the boost solenoid

if the other mystery wire is a tan/black combo, then it has to be the MAT sensor plug like you said.

in stock form, SyTys dont have a plug there. the MAT is located on the drivers side of the upper intake manifold right next to the vacuum port for the brake booster

that must be it. the water temp had a light blue connector head

really? cause mins back. dont go off the color of the plug, go off the wires.

Orange/Black = Boost Solenoid
Yellow/Black = Water Temp (Manifold)
Tan/Black = MAT Sensor

I didn't catch that 2nd post of yours. your right, the MAT is plugged in next to the booster. 1 down. the long one we said is the BCS. 2 down I'll have to go look at them again tomorrow morning and report back. Thanks for the help :D

Sorry Tommyquest, the original post didnt have any pics in it, I read it quickly when I moved it. I have moved about 1000 posts today out of HOW TO REPAIR and TECH TALK (both have now been closed), you are correct this is a good post and should be moved back into tech.

In either event, I can tell you for sure that connector in question is for the boost control solenoid for the factory turbo. Since you are NOT running the stock turbo (per the pics) that would explain its no longer being used.

There are only a couple of connectors on that side of motor,

AC Compressor Engage
and
O2 Sensor.

The coolant temp sensors are different and run down other side of intake, as does the EGR Solenoid and MAP Sensor.

The rest should run down the other side of the intake manifold if memory serves me correctly. But its 11:35pm and I have been staring at this dang monitor too much today as it is.

 Sorry Todd, didn't mean to come off sounding nasty. the coolant temp sensors, as in 2 of them. One in the manifold and the other? This could be the one :D

I'm such a nitwit. :banghead: I realized what I did. With the ATR headers I plugged the sensor hole that's sits under the drivers side header flange. Which explains the extra light blue single wire connector. Since my turbo isn't water cooled I'm going to put that sensor below thermostat where water outlet was for the turbo. Thanks for your help everbody.
