External Wastegate Talk

Im going with putting a turbonetics racegate wastegate on my truck this month. So in process of taking out all the old integral wastegate and the soliniod and so on, im going to install the control knob form the wastegate into the cockpit for the new gate.

Question one: Will the knock sensor still back off of boost with using a external gate on the crossover pipe? or does it simply not conrol what the wastegate is set at sence it is not computer controlled.

Just curious i have no idea as of how the stock wastegate system functions with the knock sensor. I was going to pay to have the racegate installed or should i save some money and take off the crossover myself and then take it to conley's to have them weld it on, then re-install myself.

question two:Would this be a fairly easy job taking off the stock crossover? Please explain?(i realy dont feel like paying 250 bux for the labor and the weld if i can do it myself)

If there are any tuning issues that will change from this mod please inlighten me.

this is a really easy job....I would pull it and do it myself....and the stock WG has almost no connections with the knock sensor. the reduction of timing may reduce boost but not in significant amounts.

john can do anything. its a pain in the ass job. plus a racegate makes it even more fun to do.

why dont you just get an HKS gate?
