So a mechanical diode is a transmission component...I cant think of what the mechanical equivalent of a diode would be in a transmission...

Shit Explained doesnt mention how sprag assemblies or a mechanical diode come into play in a transmission. Care to explain?

Man. I'm glad I didn't put mine in yet. I paid like $150 or something like that for one from Brian like a year and half two years ago. Am I better off just one for a late model 4L60E? I had heard they have been improved.

Just got off the phone with Raybestos. The company that was making the part for them quit making them supposedly because as they were gearing up to manufacture them as oem for GM, GM told them that they were going to discontinue the 700r4(H4L60)and it wasn't worth it to them to continue producing them in a small quantity. When I asked him about failures, he said that in cases of failure almost always, the transmission wasn't running true. Ususally off center rotation from bushings put in wrong or not replaced in rebuild, incorrect tolerances or pump failed causing mechanical diode to fail from lack of lubrication. He said that they have been beat to death in police cars, street-strip transmissions, vans, tow vehicles, and are still running fine.
Brian, do you have any input on this. When the TC I ordered from you comes in, I was going to do the rebuild. What should I do with this? Use it or get the 29 element sprag?

I got the 29 element from Makco for like $36.
