Fuel pump hotwire

I need to drain some gas out of the fuel tank for a walbro install. I've seen some guys hotwire the fuel pump to stay on all the time and then just dump the fuel into a can from the fuel rail. Anyone know how to do this?

Just disconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter or at the rail, use a piece of hose to run the fuel to a bucket, and a cut your key on. The lack of fuel pressure will make the pump keep going until you turn off the key or run out of gas.

Or there is a grey wire near the fire wall - hook that to the power block on the fire wall and it'll run forever.

Or you could just be a man and lift the tank - it isn't that heavy with 18 gallons of gas :)

Lifting it is not that bad, but when fuel comes sloshing out all over you, that sux...

I'd disconnect it at the filter and turn key on like Michael said.
