Gauge advice

Hi guys,

So Im looking over some gauges for my ty and I have few questions regarding them.


1. In a 3 pod setup, other than boost and trans temp gauge, which gauge would you recommend for the 3rd pod spot? what gauge do you find yourself checking most?


2. Any idea if this sonoma pod cluster would fit our truck?

I use glowshift gauges that are white face and 7 different colors . The trans gauge is so easy to install into the test port onthe driverside of the Tranny. Oh and buy the brake boosteraline from rpm that allows you to hook up your boost gauge line into it and the third gauge whole should be reserved for your Plx wideband you will buy to watch lean and rich running for tuning later. I have my boost gauge set to blue, trans to red and Plx just does its own thing on multi colors. If u have any questions hit me up

Any way you can get me a couple of pics of that setup into the test port on the tranny? My summer project is gonna be my pillar gauges and trans temp is one of them. Thanks.

I don't think that sonoma pod won't fit unless you modify it.

I have boost, trans temp, and fuel pressure.

Wideband is a good choice instead of fuel pressure.

Usually everyone has boost, trans temp, and some other gauge (wideband, fuel pressure,....etc)

Same here... having that FP gauge has narrowed down a bad pump relay pretty quickly. ;)

DUmb question, but what size are the guages for the pillar? I have a 2 pillar set up, but I am not sure of the size (truck isn't here, at shop)

'94 and up were the 2nd Gen S-10's, so no, that pillar pod won't fit.

The gauge pods will have to be sanded usually just a tiny bit to get the gauges to fit snug and not get stuck once installed. You don't want them to fall out either. I'll take a pic of my truck tomorrow for the trans temp sensor it goes right in the test port on the driverside of the trans , you can't miss it.

My thoughts. My pillar gauges are inline with the pillar. Not necessarily pointed more toward me. Especially if you're a bit short 5'8", like me. I would preffer they were like the lower brown pod (with steering wheel in the pic) in the link and not like the larger pod just above. I only poked around a bit but didn't see that, more to my liking, pod listed.

I just rearranged my gauges. Boost first nearest the dash easiest to see. Fuel pres in the middle and water temp in the top hole. Getting all the cabling to the gauges can be fun but if you pull away the weather stripping next to the dash you can bring everything down and through a small gap there.

Just my 2 cents...

I've got Boost, Fuel Pressure and a narrow band Air/fuel meter until I upgrade to a wide band and an emulator and start tuning but that is in the distant future.

Here's the pic I promised for the trans temp sensor for my trans gauge in my pod in previous pics-- it goes right into the test port.

So how well does it work? I use the "hand on the cooler in front of the radiator" method.:rotf:
