Remember safety equipment is there to protect YOU as much as anything.
If you show up with something obviously not safe that might endanger yourself and/or the people watching, they have some nice covered bleachers you can watch from.
The important thing here is tech is for YOU as much as anybody. With that said make sure your safe and come have a good time.
I will be part of tech and will be watching for fluid leaks and obvious safety issues. 3 lug nuts, oil dripping on the track, bare wires running across the exhaust probably isn't safe for anybody.
If you don't have those problems, your truck is taken care of then I wouldn't worry.
i realize that the rules are there for my saftey,however alot is to be said for how a vehicle goes down the track and how a driver reacts to it.....for instance i will not pass tech because i dont have a 10pt bar,and possible the need for a chute,but other than that the vehicle is in absolutley perfect mechanicale condition,and goes down the track perfectly ....in the other lane a clapped out mid 80's malibu that has all the nhra mandated equipment,but is all over the track,smoking,on and off the gas to keep it straight,holes all over the car from equipment that used to be there and now isnt,basically you wouldnt drive this car around the block at 10mph let alone down a dragstrip.....and of the 2 of us i would be asked to leave.this happens all over the coountry and it really isnt fair to those of us that take pride in our cars and keep them 100 percent safe,but dont want to sacrifice the streetability by filling them up with roll bars and other nhra mandated equipment,which realisticly make them more dangerous for street use.
however i have been to bg several time to spectate and i know all about the facilities there,but i really didnt want to ge just to watch......unfortunatly it looks like i wont pass tech,and im not willing to drive 6-7 hours just to watch....so have a good time everyone and take lots of pics:tup:
