What about your fuel pump I know if their bad they can heat up and wont start untell they cool down. The smoke thing I dont have a clue. Does it smell like burnt wire or plastic or any smell at all?

Ok a few questions

Does it die and not start or do you shut it off then it wont start untell you let it cool dowm

When you try to start and it doesnt start do you hear the starter click or try to start or is their just nothing happening

It could be a problem with the ing switch you changed it might be hot side grounding out / heating up or some thing in that area and at a hight boost or hight volt increase from the rpm increase could give a hight volt heat up and just for a short time untell the alt controlles the voltage again.

I havent had this problems this is just some ideas of what it could be.

There was one member with the same issue.. He was at a pick n pull and came outside and his truck was filled with smoke. It would have burnt to the ground. DaveP fixed the truck so the member may have been Quinstar.

Are you sure when you hit boost your not pulling back on the wheel causing it to ground out and smoke? Either way I would NOT drive the truck until you figure put what it is. I would even disconnect the battery...

Not saying its not blowby or your alt belt.. Just never can be too careful.

Didn't you say that you had blow by? Blow by smoke can enter the interior by the driverside firewall. The cutting out/check engine light could be overboost.

If you do have an electrical problem don't ignore it.

Chances are when you replaced your ignition switch you do not have it lined up correctly, and it is shorting on itself. This CAN cause your truck to catch fire, so disconnect the battery and fix it right away. When you put the switch in, you must make sure that you have everything lined up. I always start with the key turned back to where only the radio comes on, then put the switch to that position, then line it up with the rod underneath the column.
