Msd fuel pump

I am wondering if a msd 2225 inline pump would work on a stock typhoon. I have used one on a few different efi race cars. The turbo world is new to me. I plan on gutting the stock in tank sending unit and running an inline pump. If the msd will not support turbo what reasonably priced pump would? The msd pump can be had for around 125.00. I would prefer a pump that has barbs for the lines, as I don't want the expense of an fittings.

Re: Msd fuel pump

You can get a known good pump such as the replacement walbro 255 for $70, though. It's been proven to work time and time again. Why be difficult? Unless you've got an extensive build, I don't see a reason to go through all that hassle, personally.

I don't want an in tank pump. From the lack of response I will assume that nobody knows. That's kind of hard to believe as it seems that every possible mod in the world has been done to these trucks. I guess I'm on my own.

Re: Msd fuel pump

Yeah not a lot of people experiment with the inline pumps mostly because the in tank ones have proven to be more than capable of fueling the trucks at any power level. Not saying inline pumps don't work but its easier to drop the pump. Inline pumps overheat and if you were gonna buy an inline then Aeromotive would be the way to go.

Re: Msd fuel pump

bosch 044 works well for an inline ...good for about 650hp

that being said in the tank is better for a street car.. pump stays nice and cool

Re: Msd fuel pump

Thats what i was looking for...thank you i will look into the bosch pump. I have used inline pumps for a long time on race cars and have never had a problem, granted they are only being run for 20 minutes at a time. As far as cooling the pump goes, the fuel is running through the pump so the motor is cooled by the fuel. This truck is not by any means a daily driver, it might see 2 or 3 thousand miles a year. Almost every failure of fuel pumps i have seen was due to poor wiring and weak voltage to the pump.
