Oh yeah, let me tell you how super thrilled I was to put the bracket and P/S pump back on, mount the pulley then realize that I had the bolt that mounts behind the pump in my pocket...
You can fairly easily modify the bracket and/or bolt behind the pump by removing some material, then grind down the thickness of a wrench to fit it. Keeps you from having the pull the pulley/pump every time you want to take the bracket off. That wrench is one of many modified tools I have to fit that one bolt in that one place.....
Well it's certainly not "unscrew this and yur done" but a few minutes with a puller/installer and you're on your way. Sadly I've done mine 5-6 times? I'm not counting. It will be coming out again soon and I'll rent another puller. Free if returned in 24hrs. One thing about that mount, when attached, it sure ain't goin' anywhere,
I may be off by a bolt or so - but I think there are more bolts holding the PS pump on than connect the engine to the tranny! I charge GM with severe overkill!
Actually, I have rebuilt 5 of the 4.3's. Built one up for my 89 half-ton. Put in a man cam, roller tappets and Corvette valve springs - Edelbrock performer intake and 600 cfm carb. My hot-rod buddies think I'm turning just over 300 hp - that's there guess - not mine. Naturally aspirated - these things are iron horses.
