Question about egr?

I do have a turbotweak chip which has egr delete but haven't got around to installing it until I do all my upgrades at the same time. Well my question is if I wanted to put my egr block off plate on now while the truck is pretty much stock, other then probably a cel would there be any harm in driving the truck like this?Just looking to lower my IAT's a little. How much would this lower my IAT's realistically ? I have heard about 20-30 degrees. Also while on the topic about IAT's , should the intercooler's system coolant be changed as often as your engines cooling system? I was just wondering if older coolant loses it effectiveness over time?

Re: Question about egr?

IAT's will entirely depend on your ambient temperature and how well your stock intercooler system is working. with egr deleted, stock system, ic pump running full time, and a jason west scoop, i was about 65 IAT with 50 ambient temp. on my drive through the desert at 115 ambient, i was 140 IAT. meth injection brought that down to 100 under boost. :D

IIRC, with egr and same setup, i was about 120-140 at 60 ambient.

as far as changing coolant, its very easy with the drain valve facing out so would make sense to change frequently. use the recommended coolant mix with water wetter and you'll be good to go. while we are on topic, hotwire the pump to take advantage of the intercooler system.

Thanks 5678TA. I have a upgraded ic pump hot-wired and rerouted rubber lines, that was one of the first mods I did along with 255 walbro and AFPR back when I first got my truck in 2002. I was thinking about going a2a but don't want to spend all that money. I'm trying to maximize what I got I guess. I don't think my iat's are real bad but just trying to lower a little. In 60-70 degree weather I see 80-105 degrees, but under some WOT pulls they have approached 110-120. Does it seem like my ic system is working correctly? Well I guess it looks like the EGR is coming off, along with a ic flush and a check to see if any of my hoses are kinked anywhere. BTW how much help will a ic scoop do for me? I guess it would help since it would direct air right at the cac instead of going around it.
