removing rpm oil pan on lsx ty

I had to remove my oil pan on my Ty, LSx conversion, some dumb ass ( not saying who) dropped a bolt in the valley when removing the valleycover. the rear oil drain back just swallowed it right up. I looked in the oil pan with a bore scope but couldn't see the bolt, First I had to remove the front diff'. did the bracket mod so it would drop down. did not work out, the rpm pan is too wide to allow the diff to drop between. removed steering linkage and finally got it out. I had to remove the starter to get to the bolts on the pass side, had to use a wrench, the off set on the pan prevented using a socket. rear most bolts are allen head, and cannot be reached with a standard allen socket, so I straight end an extra allen wrench and welded it on the socket. this worked when removed them but broke when reinstalling.
I removed the pan and sure enough there it was. I think I'll put a screen in the valley to catch any thing that might fall in.

put it back in today, rebuilt with new bearings and bushings, bracket mod made it a lot easier. pushed all steering linkage as far forward as possible, steering box and idling arm loose from frame, it was a struggle, most of the weight is on your left arm, pushed it forward and up in place.

Please explain the bracket modification procedure. Where did you get that bracket?

I've spent the last two weekends trying to drop my front differential for replacement and finally got it down today. In the process, I lost the nail on my pointer finger on the left hand and believe my little finger there might be broken too. Long story short, I first partially cut, then bent the bracket back and at some point the screwdriver slipped and there went the left hand. I'm a lefty. Then the front diff came down. Unexpectedly. Onto my left hand. All's good. It's down now.

OUCH! I cut the bracket off with a dremmel tool, just cut the first layer, don't cut into the frame, bend it back and forth till it comes off. grind the rest off down to the clean frame . weld on a piece of metal to extend past the lower control arm bolt, take out the bolt, fit the bracket before you drill the bolt hole, pics should be self explanatory. hope this helps

Nope, took it to a specialist, rebuilt this one and my spare, cost me 300 for the pair.
