Sonoma GT Mods ????

I have viewed a number of postings hoping to find some simple and effective mods for the S-GT. There doesn't seem to be much here so i thought I'd ask.

I'm sure you all would say the first step would be a "chip" but which one? I am somewhat familiar with adding performance to vehicles, just don't want to go through the "trial and error" with my S-GT if there is someone out there that can help. If there is a simple combination of bolt-on's I'd be more than thankful for a little information.

No, I am not altering the Aspen GT#370, it will go on the Teal GT#549. It seems really sluggish until about 3000 RPM then it launches like a rocket with a decent squeal on the 255/60's when it hits 2nd gear. If I could just get the 0-?? to respond a little more aggressive I'd be content.

Thanks in advance for any help that I receive!

Your colors are hard to read, especially that 2nd blue.

Anyways basically you have a 4.3 Naturally Aspirated V6 with a slightly different intake than the rest of the run of the mill 4.3's. I would goto a s-series board to find their recommended mods.

As for the chip. IMO most of the aftermrket chips aren't that all great. The mass market ones (hypertech, ADS, JET) suck. Most of their changes are intuitive. Most of the changes, you wouldn't even need to road test to see if they work. In vehicle that I know well, I could do what they do with my PC prom burner and 10 minutes and a test drive. A lot of the aftermarket chip only touch the WOT and most do very little with part throttle tuning which can make a big difference in everyday driving and throttle response. (this ofcourse take a lot of time to get correct, so that is why they don't touch it and it doesn't show up on a dyno) Even a lot of the shop that do custom 'Dyno tuning' only touch WOT. Their are some custom chip tuner that do a nice chip but they are far and few between, same goes for off the shelf chips. IMO if you want it done, right you have to do it yourself because it take too long to pay someone to do it for you.

I didn't realize the intake was even different. I thought it was the standard High Output, W VIN code, CPI 4.3L that they put in a bunch of S-trucks...

SoGTs really have more in common with regular S-trucks than with SyTy's, so the other S-series sites will probably be more helpful to you than SyTy.net...

It's the same old L35 you could get in anything. This engine was the base model for full size trucks, and can be found in Bravada's,Jimmy's,Astro's,Sonoma's and S10's.
About all you can do over the counter is headers, high flow cat,cat back exhaust, air intake, power pullies(DO NOT use them)a chip and 160-180 thermostat. The best way to make it faster is dropping a 4.10 ring and pinion in the rearend. After you do all that you'll still have a slug.

I bought a 94 L35 Sonoma brand new and owned it for 7 years,I currently own this 95 L35 Blazer.If you really wanna make it fast,drop in a LS1.

I have an L-35 in my 93 4X4 Sonoma, and I did the EGR mod that the S-10 guys do (check their sites) and I have to say that I definatley got better off the line torque. The only problem I have with it is that the engine throws a code every once in a while, but I think thats because I have some carbon build up in the intake.

these intakes are limited, I believe by the injector and popit valves
quite a while ago someone contacted me to sell a custom multipoint
setup but the costs and hassle factor were a little high so I elected
to follow the True Path to emPOWERment

I have put 350 throttle bodies on 2 different 4.3's. Really
wakes them up. Inexpensive bolt on for sure.

a turbo kit?

hahahahahahahaha

Yeah E, I guess I would laugh at a turbo kit too, especially since you can put in a Whipple Supercharger!

Bdubb actually touched on it in another post.

but then you have to get all the extras like bigger brakes and so forth... but then again what would be the point if you want simple?
