Starter issue !!

One of my Ty's just left me stranded .. It had the dreaded starter issue. I got it started by jumping the starter directly. I am home checking the ignition switch first. All but one of the wires are hot with the key on. When I go to start position shouldn't the one yellow wire light up my test light?

Yellow wire should light in the start position, yes. This circuit goes to the NSS, which in a closed position (P or N) will energize the purple wire.

Yep,purple wire is toast.Replace it with 10 gauge from the brake booster to the solenoid. It's the thickest purple wire in the loom above the brake booster.
