Uhlhazard, is your jimmy turbocharged? I love my 4door s15 jimmy 4x4, dropping a syty motor in it is very tempting. If your not turbo do you plan on a swap or just waiting to pick up a syty? After reading your story about your truck, sounds like you enjoy it for the same reasons I enjoy my jimmy.

Truck or no truck this is not worth missing. Reason being you can still watch, look, admire, eat, drink, act a fool, meet new people, ask questions, enjoy the water and scenery. Camp if you desire or stay at a cheap motel. This is only the second year of this event and I have no intentions of just ending it one year. Let this this be a Texas SyTy legacy.

Re: TX meet 2013

I have a wynjammer supercharger. I'm knee deep in a major overhaul. First time the engine has ever been out, shes at 253k on the clock. Main bearings looked a little sad so she is getting a crank kit. Wife just walked in from Oreilly on 75 supposed to do a timing set exchange under warranty and says "ooh we got sixty bucks back". The store closes in 1 minute and now I have no timing set to rotate the crank.

So should I bring my shop to the meet?

Lol, I wouldn't advise it. I've heard those systems do very well. I know a guy in San Antonio that does extremely good machine work cheap. He has built 3 4.3 motors for me, holding up awesome. No issues, best part is 475$ out the door for a assembled rebuild including parts labor and tax on a short block. He does both heads for around 150$. I paid an extra 280$ to have some srp pistons put on my Ty motor. His turn around is about 2 months, requires 50% deposit. I'm about to take him another 4.3

Re: TX meet 2013

We use a guy in Porter or New Caney very inexpensive. He is a 1.5 man shop though I'm not sure he could handle much outside of stock. I get a lot of grief trying to find engine rebuilders when I deviate from the OE spec.

We recently did a build in my buddies 94 4x4 s15 with an rv cam, arp everything, and the builders became a pain to work with when we wanted some PM rods and a set of keith black pistons that are like 20% lighter than OE and bump compression up roughly half a point. It was all downhill from there.

Anyhow I'm currently very apart on my build but she is getting together quickly. New crank installed tonight waiting on new timing set and converting from this piece of crap composite timing cover to the Old school stamped steel cover you guys have. Part of the crank position sensor plug came apart and ended up in the pan.

Hoping to have everything up and running by the meet. My friend that lives in Rogers might have his tbird finished too. 460 powered cruiser.

I had a fellow member ask me if he could help by brining anything for Sunday. I replied with absolutely, no one has volunteered to help out so what ever you want just let me know.

Items that he is providing are plates, plastic utensils, chips, buns and I told him his choice of BBQ sauce. Can't remember if he said paper towels as we will need some of those.

Some items I just thought of that we should plan on having are at least a couple 2-3ft shop fans if anyone could help by bringing one. I should be able to bring one decent size fan but I would suggest 2-3 would be better. Another item I think would be those flytrap rope things you hang to help keep those away. Maybe a few extension cords also. Coolers with your own beverages, my cooler space will be limited.

Last year I cooked hamburgers and hotdogs at the track. Unfortunately I won't be doing that this year as I plan on focusing on racing/tuning. The concession there is not to bad as I remember and has burgers and so on.

I can not say I will be bringing sides besides maybe beans, pickles, onions and jalapeño's to make sandwiches with the brisket/pork.

Anyone got any idea's post em up, this is our event not mine. So post up if you plan on coming. I have no idea of how many are planning on showing up. estimated head count would be better than what I know now.

Also everyone is responsible for there entry fee into the lake Sunday as well as the track Saturday.

Yeah, I got plates, forks, knives, napkins, 3 different BBQ sauces, 3 different flavor family size bags of chips, and a few packages of buns.

Re: TX meet 2013

I'm waiting on my transmission parts. 1 week from today will be tight for my first transmission rebuild. Sucks to be cutting it so close.

Any of you guys have an idea of the fees? I'm trying to put a budget together.

Check the websites, it's not much. I would get some miles on her before making a 3hr drive on a fresh rebuild.

I'm rebuilding a trans for my 4x4 jimmy, just taking my time. I'm about 70% done, almost half way through assembly .

I'll have my Syclone at the Lake. I don't think I'm going to the track. If you need anything last minute let me know. I live right around the corner from Dana Peak Park.

Re: TX meet 2013

Got a box of transmission parts in the mail today! Going to be working non-stop to get her up and running to make the meet.

God help us.

Have you already pulled and inspected the parts in the transmission? The most time consuming part of it if you ask me.

Re: TX meet 2013

Yep, everything looked fantastic, just lots of clutch material the last 20K worth of changes. The beast sunshell looks amazing! Going to finish the ac up and dive deep into getting the trans back together.

Just finishing up washing and waxing my Ty. My mistake about fee's at the park. Any guests must tell the gatehouse you are visiting site 25 on Saturday and Sunday tell them you are visiting the pavilion and your entrance is free.

I will arrive somewhere between 3-4pm at the lake to check in and hang out till the track opens around 6-7pm. There will be a red/grey, teal/grey typhoon. You can't miss us

Re: TX meet 2013

So I got the front pump installed then realized the band was still on my bench! I'm hoping to do my best to head up there asap guys! Is there anything recommended to bring?

Not really, maybe some chairs for the track. If you forgot the band big deal, remove the pump, 2-4 drum and start over. Helps a lot using a video step by step the first time. It's good to right down the steps you completed in assembly as you go so if you contradict yourself of doing something you can go back and look. Lol

I've had two guys local drop out this year on going for whatever reasons. Big deal, I'm still going to make this fun and a damn good brisket for Sunday. Just finished a 10 lber today for another occasion. Good luck hope to see you there
