The auto store sold me an external voltage regulator as stock for my 1992 Ty. Where does this thing go?

Not very helpful, but I'm guessing you mean the voltage regulator is built in to the alternator?

Yes, the voltage regulator is internal in the alternator.
What did you go into the store to look for? I'm curious how you ended up walking out with a voltage regulator. . .

I just bought my first Ty and the voltmeter in the dash usually sits at 14 volts, but sometimes sits at 0 or max. I was on the way to a meeting after work and there is an O'Reilly's on the way. I figured I'd swing in and see if the voltage regulator was external and if so how cheap it was. Figured if it was $10 or less I'd pick it up and throw it in hoping it would fix the problem. O'Reilly's told me it was external and sold me one. Dammit. That'll teach me for going there, lol!
