I went to the 1/4 yesterday and first pass the motor let go just past the 1/8 and coasted from the 1000' on. We think it might be both head gaskets. Still ran 10.40 @ 106. Was running 109.4mph at the 1/8. Should have it fixed up in a few weeks.

How much boost were you running for the cometics to let go? I was thinking of using these, but have a few doubts now. (This occurance along with the sand dune truck). You're definately into the 9's!

im pretty sure we have found the limits of the cometic headgaskets.
boost was just over 30PSI with a small shot of N2O.
we will be tearing it down to remeasure and inspect everything next week. want to be sure theres nothing wrong with it other than the headgaskets. its venting cylinders 5,6, and 1 to the radiator, but still fires up and purs like a kitten. hopefully an easy fix.

Yeah the 40 shot combined with cool weather and the boost turned up a little caused a 30 psi spiked just after it went into 3rd gear. The boost was 28-28.5 the rest of the run.

Without an O-ring in the block and an SCE gasket, i don't beleive any gasket will stay with that much cylinder pressure. A Cometic is good for 35 psi no problem with out nitrous, but when you add spray to 30 psi you will almost double the cylinder pressure. I suggest to O-ring the block with an .041 wire that protrudes .012-.015 and use the SCE titan gasket.

That's mega cylinder pressure you have there, and the best gasket in the world won't hold that for long (mabe the new cometics with the gas filled o-ring, but not much testing with those yet)
