Old old group buy. Did these work out and any plans for these in the future? I'm very interested...
From old post:
"5 pinion instead of the stock 4 pinion arrangement.
The 5 gears will be 8620 case hardened. 8620 will be fine since there are so many gears in the housing now. Gears will be straight cut (spur) just like stock so no thrust and high load bearing ability is arranged.
Pinion gears will ride on needle bearings. Stock had NO bearings. Which is why the pinions always fall out during rebuilds. The unit will be round instead of the square pot metal configuration that is in them now. This will SIGNIFICANTLY strengthen the housing.
Total drop in unit whether you have the upgraded 32 spline input shaft or stock. It doesn't matter. This will fit all 1372/4472 transfer cases.
These are expensive complicated pieces.
I must get at least 10 units to make this happen. Any less than 10 isn't worth his time to manufacture.
This design also required a sun gear shaft. The sun gear shaft is 4340."
