92 Typhoon 0255

Hello everyone. Names Lance and I purchased my Typhoon outside Philly about a year and a half ago. She's a frost white /grey with 72,000 miles now. Wanted to to start a thread documenting the progress of the beast since my purchase. I bought her in august 2013 and brought her back to Virginia where she started her life (according to carfax) only to realize she was sitting on a blown turbo (massive shaft play). As I was replacing the turbo with a 6266e precision i stumbled upon a major leak in the ATR upper intercooler. Not knowing very much about syty's i ordered a run of the mill 650HP W/A intercooler from frozen boost and fabbed up my own intercooler/piping system. What followed was an unbelievable amount of brake downs lmao ( the true syty experience). This thing is a money pit and I'm so in love! After replacing almost every sensor, belt, and hose things have kind of gotten better lol. From what I have dug up this truck used to belong to a guy named Jay Levitt. Pretty sure I'm the 4th owner. The truck is far from stock and pretty much has the ENTIRE ATR catalog installed. Obviously its an older build that I've been trying to restore. I currently have a set of vortecs and a spare intake manifold to send off for vortec modification as well as a full code 59 /data logging, and Plx wb02 set up getting ready for installation. Just wanting to introduce myself and document the life of 92 Ty 0255 in this thread.

Well obviously I haven't figured out how to post photos yet lol. Yeah man I'm going to be there with the Ty as long as it doesn't develop a sudden need for jack stands between now and the 23rd.

Re: 92 Typhoon 0255

Little update... So i started data logging and of course I'm getting a bunch of KR the second i past 15lbs of boost (running ultimate chip on T1-17 and yes I have a 3 bar map) other then that was getting some way ramdom light KR which I traced down to exhaust hitting in a few places. So i ripped out my s.s. atr pit bull exhaust to rehang it all properly and so I could remove the last piece of down pipe and drop it off to get a bung welded in. I got the plx dm6 all installed aswell, just waiting on the welding shop to finish w/my down pipe so I can get everything back on the truck and start trying to track down the cause of my KR in hi boost!

Re: 92 Typhoon 0255

Well this is long over due but better late then never. First off I tracked down where my false knock was coming from. The fuel lines were hitting the transmission so I slit a piece of rubber hose and wrapped it around them. No more KR for me!

Also since I suck outloud at updating this build thread I have accomplished quite a bit of improvements on the Ty over the last 2 years! I have pretty much gutted the engine bay and started over as it was a complete shit show when I bought it. The pile of unnecessary wires I removed was ridiculous!

Project engine bay consisted of A/c delete, repair and heat wrap my ATR headers and PTE down pipe, jet hot coated accessory brackets, valve covers, coil &throttle cable brackets, SM ABS delete, SM vacuum line kit, every hose under hood replaced, Ported wastegate on turbo for better boost control, added ATR Aux cooler and Ice box for intercooling system, pulled and painted inner fender wells, Taylor wires w/ new boot protectors, NGK UR6 plugs gapped at .032, new MSD cap & rotor, and wire tuck. All of this was completed shorty before Carlisle 2015. There is a shit ton more to report since then but I need to go to work now lol. I will be trying to get this thread up to date and maybe even figure out how to post pics within the next week or 2.

Came a long way with that truck. Always enjoy seeing it at Carlisle. I need to start on my damn green Ty. I've been pissin' around with that for long enough.

Re: 92 Typhoon 0255

I busted out my note book and of course I forgot to mention a couple mods/fixes. I destroyed a driver side motor mount and swapped to a solid (wow that sucked ass to change), Removed oil cooler lines and relocated filter to the block, and Installed the motocam 360 billet hood strut kit (very nice).

All of that was completed around august 2015, at Carlisle the truck decided to kick me in the dick that weekend which ended up being a simple fix that I unfortunately didn't figure out until a few months later as I was disgusted and having one of those moments I'm sure we have all had.

It ended up being the damn I.C.M. lol but that inspired me to update the injectors to some flow matched 60#ers, new AFPR from SM, and a Turbo tweak chip. So while I was putting all that in of course relocating the computer to the glove box for ease of access to the turbo tweak chip is a must and I painted the fuel rail and did the intake gaskets. After all that I decided to just enjoy the truck for a while since it was running great and she was down for a while. The usual 25 year old truck break downs continued :rotf: Bad t.p.s. sensor, alternator, and the Brake master cylinder. Other then those slight hiccups its been running great! I love the TT Chip too! Right now im running 18lbs of boost, 17* of timing at w.o.t., 10.9 AFR with 0* of knock on a mixture of 110 and 93 and the Butt Dyno is very pleased!

That's pretty much how she sits today BUT...Since I can't leave shit alone and she needs new control arm bushings and ball joints I decided to opt for the SM coil over conversion kit for front and new Beltech drop leafs w/setback plates for the rear. No full suspension upgrade is complete without traction bars so I picked up a set of Caltracs too. The while your there bug always strikes so I also picked up a set or C6 Brakes for all 4 corners along with a few other things like new wheels and tires, etc. Hoping to have all this completed before Carlisle 17. Here are a few pics of where im at with gathering parts and such for the 2017 winter/spring mods

Hoping to make some time soon to start this next round of upgrades but my dumb ass has also purchased a pair of Syclones in need of major TLC that I've been working on but that's for another thread lol. Feels good to finally get this up to date.
