Not bad.

$300ish for distributor
$300ish for eDist (not sure of price or configuration with the Ford module)
$100-200 for coils
$50-100 for custom wires (you can get LS1 coil terminals from Motec and crimp them on regular plug wires, or just run regular LS1 wires - depends on your layout)
$0-100 for wiring (depending on if this is DIY or whatever)

sorry to hijack the thread, but the ignition stuff really needs to be run by more people.

just for you info the dual sync,a edis box froma ford v6 and a gen 7 will run a 4.3 sy motor beautiful

are you saying you don't need the edist from FAST, you can use a stock car part, from a ford? Something a parts store would have in stock, if you should break down?

What about sending those signals to a buick box? Seems that would make thigns real easy. 6 cyl, wires probably close to right length, easy to find, etc.

Buick box won't work.. they need eDist or something similar to function with coil on plug as well.

I am curious to the details of the Ford box tho.

actually I stand corrected, we made it work a different way for the ford box you would need a 36-1 crank wheel, and the fas$ box uses a 4 lug mag wheel. If you wanted to install a crank wheel you could run a ford box and use you stock distributor for the cam signal.

You have my interest peaked on this one, using ford style box.

I could even design up and have some crank wheels done up for us also.

What model ford box?

I assume you are removing all but 1 pickup from stock distributor, correct?

Then a crank wheel with 3 triggers?

the ford box is designed to work with a 36 minus one tooth wheel so any ford v6 box would work (explorer v6 or cougar) I would belive you could use their exciter wheel also.

I may have an answer for sy/ty ignition problems. I work at a rod and custom's shop, and there is a 69 AMC that has had an after market coil pack put on it. The system is like an LS1 ignition with a crank trigger and coils for each cylinder. It is easily tunded, has timming for initial start advance at 3000, advance at 8000, and rev limiter.

THe LS1 coil thing has been done.

Yes, I know this. That is why I was using it as an example.

I'm sorry maybe I need to be more clear. This system could possibly be easier than ls1 coils.

We have racing here Friday, Saturday, and Sunday......and it'll be maybe 20 degrees cooler. I think a 10.
I'd love to go out and see that. I work Friday and Saturday, but I could probably make it to the track on Sunday. What time do you plan on racing Sunday? Also, I drove by your shop last night and saw a beat-up Syclone parked outside. What's the story with that?

AKTYGUY Can you please tell me what kind of mods it take to get a ty in a low to mid 11 sec range? What are common problems you have when seriously start modding a ty and how reliable when you get to the point you are at and how much$$$ in mods from stock to now ? The rx7's weak point is the engine they dont like alot of boost and have to be finely tuned I am on my third engine to be where I am at .I have a 3rd Gen rx7 that runs low 11s on et streets but it looks a little obvious what I am up to when I bolt them on to go out on a weekend night and play. Nobody around here knows what a typoon is I want a total sleeper ANYBODY else that can help me out with this info Would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
