My last track day before I go to the bigger cam and better heads ........ and now probably a bigger turbo . This shit doesn’t end . So today I went multiple high 9 second passes but the truck was falling off pretty bad at the 1000ft mark. As soon as I made the first pass at 27psi and the stock 19* of timing on the TT chip I knew it was in trouble.
It felt like I was just winding the engine for nothing. It literally just stop pulling. At first I thought it was my cam till about the 4th pass which was my best and btw handwritten because the timeslip machine ran out of paper. So on that 4th pass I turn the wastegate rod half a turn for more boost and turn the timing up 2.4* degrees on the scanmaster . I leave at 14psi and I notice it’s a lot quicker to 300ft. I throw high gear , I look at the boost gauge and it is past the 30psi Mark and into the middle of the bottom of my 30 psi boost gauge and my dumbass just stays in it .

. I ended up going from a 9.79 to a 9.73 with only 1 more mph . Know I knew it was the turbo and everybody at that track had v8’s with way bigger turbos. I met some nice local guys with a Mercury Zepyhr. Aka Ford Fairmont . I raced hlm 2nd. He’s the first Person that told me that my truck was nosing over because my turbo was too small . And here I thought the 6466 was good till 900hp. Anyway . The car didn’t break . The 7.5 rear end didn’t break , and I’ve maxed out my combo . Learned a lot from the truck today . Lets just say these trucks are better made for the 1/8 mile .
Btw I wasn’t able to beat my 6.09 pass from last week in the 1/8 mile . And RPMs were at 5900 at the end of the 1/4 and scanmaster was showing rpm moving up really slow after 5700 like I had hit a wall.
